Back in 2.0 we could have a drop down menu for custom blocks where we could chose what to pick for it in one block. This was taken out in 3.0. I would like this added back in because it breaks some projects without it.

Can you explain a little more, or provide some examples? I don't think anything has really changed about custom blocks like what you're describing.

Ok. There is a project called Undertale Battle Creator. In the project it has a custom block that changes your soul color to the selected color. It had a drop down menu for red, blue green etc. Without it you need to put in the huge code to change it manually. There is also a block in it for the speech sound it uses. When it was taken out it just plays the monster death sound by default. There could be more, but that was why I came to the post.

For the soul color thing, is that in the scripts for the backdrop? Because those purple blocks aren't custom blocks — they are the “switch backdrop to” blocks, which have existed in 2.0 and 3.0.

As a result, I don't think what you're suggesting the Scratch Team add back, even existed in the first place.

No, in 2.0 purple is also the color for More Blocks. I clearly remember there being a drop down menu for More Blocks. Also I can't back it up my response anymore because my computer won't even load the project.

In 2.0, “More Blocks” was a darker purple than “Looks”.

I don't remember seeing a drop down menu for custom blocks, even in 2.0. The only things you could put in a custom block were label texts, string inputs, number inputs, and boolean inputs, like the following block:

And nothing like this existed:

Perhaps I'm not understand your suggestion correctly. Have you taken a look at the 2.0 offline editor? Are there drop down menus in there?

I'm 100% sure that dropdowns in custom blocks were never an official feature.

However, in 2.0, it was possible to download the project and “hack” the project.JSON file to get features not accessible in the Scratch editor - for example, dropdown menus in custom blocks. Maybe the project you're referring to used these types of “hacked blocks”?

Though this never being a feature in Scratch, I support adding it; being able to have dropdowns in custom blocks could be pretty useful.
