.sb3 to .zip
Does anybody know a method that can allow for conversion from .sb3 to .zip
I would like to review the new sb3 file format in hopes of creating “hacked blocks” for scratch 3.0
Sorry if this seems a rather simple question for advanced topics.
EDIT: Resolved

.sb3 to .zip
on windows file explorer, go to the “view” tab at the top, then check the box that says “file name extensions”. right click the sb3 file and click “rename”, then simply change the extension

Similar to Scratch 2, .sb3 files are just .zip files with a different extension. Just rename it to .zip. You'll notice the project.json file is a little different, though. Also, a lot of useful hacked blocks may be impossible with the new format.

Hmm, simply renaming the .sb3 to .zip, extracting it, zipping it back up, renaming it back to a .sb3, and uploading it to Scratch 3.0 alerts “The project file that was selected failed to load.”
EDIT: No, I was zipping files wrong

JGames101 is right, you can simply rename the file but note that Scratch 3.0 doesn't support hacked blocks anymore
. The hacked keypress blocks, for example, are now useless, because you can simply drag a join block onto the dropdown. Other hacked blocks don't work in 3.0.

You can do some hacked blocks, though. Simple ones. Like Other hacked blocks don't work in 3.0.

i think you have it backwards.
see, sb3 to zip is rather easy, by renaming the sb3 file to .zip.
but zip to sb3 can only be done by a file converter or sb3 to sb2 and working offline to, finally upload the .sb2 to ‘the website’ according to the 2.0 offline editor.
But, i would reccomend the 1.4 for pratically unlimited access to blocks like, incr counter , (counter) ((1.4 blocks you cant insert))

while _ { , or all at once { .
} }
link to 1.4 blocks
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/326748288/
the point is, you can literally just walk around this issue by USING 1.4 FOR PROGRAMMING PROJECTS!!!
+ a few added benefits of, less project testing/web uploading lag, ability to -INSERT/change block names, inputs colors shapes even clips!
oh and dont forget , for people who started in 1.4 or 2.0 that beautiful left handed pv! (pv unofficial copyright me , pv=project visor)

No, you're wrong. An sb3 file is a renamed zip file. That's it.Does anybody know a method that can allow for conversion from .sb3 to .zip

I don't think you can even do that…

Some of the hacked keypress (not linked to a character, like shift, etc.) relied on hacked characters that no longer work.. The hacked keypress blocks, for example, are now useless, because you can simply drag a join block onto the dropdown. Other hacked blocks don't work in 3.0.

Just rename the .sb3 to .zip and extract the files. Then bundle them back up and rename back to .sb3 when you are done.

If you want to simply get the project resources, you can use the Scratch HTMLifier here and check off the box at the middle, “output .zip file”. It will give you a .ZIP with all the resources.

You cant just rename it. I dont know if its possible since there is no .sb3 after the file name.
