Ranking Scratchers
I think there should be a list of the top 100 or so Scratchers. This will boost competition, and allow new Scratchers to view these top projects. The list will be determined by the average number of views, loves, etc.
I understand why we can't rate projects, but New Scratchers can't just expect to be on the list. There are plenty of things that involve rankings and kids and beginners, so I don't see why this would be rejected.

This would kind of misguide the reason Scratch is here. Scratch is for young people to learn to program using a non text based programming language, and adding these kind of ranks would turn into a competition to rank up and become a higher rank. No support from NerfFlamer or CannonZ

Puts too much value on fame… Scratch is about learning how to program, not about getting famous, and it's already pretty obvious that some Scratchers can get this without much work from the loyal buildup of fans they have.
It will also distract people from making better projects and instead making things that just can get them on the top 100.

From what I've seen, there aren't 100 Scratchers that have a HUGE fan base. And it's not about getting famous. It's about getting motivated. And only good projects can have a bunch of views and loves…right?

A better motivation is something like SDS, which inspires people to make creative projects.
And no - it's not always good projects that get a lot of views and loves. Some projects are depressingly simple (such as a Minecraft gif image) that still make it to the front page. There isn't a lot of work or creativity, just a little joke that happens to turn into a popular project.

People already have the motivation they need with frontpage curators, Scratch Design Studio, to loved etc.
Adding a new rank would be extraneous

I don't think boosting competition further than it already is is a good idea.
