Out of all of those games, Platinum is the only one where you can get Shiny Giratina without doing any trading.

Which Pokémon do you think has a shiny form that looks the most like the regular form? (Also, the only shiny I've caught is in Omega Ruby, and it was a shiny Golbat.)

Persian.
Also, I’m considering buying another copy of Platinum so I can do an SBQ on it with MysticUmbreon’s Best Team For Sinnoh Empoleon Edition.

*breeth*
In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Dialga and Palkia can be obtained, respectively, in the Ultra Wormhole.
Dialga is found in the Rocky World, while Palkia is at the Cave World.
Because it's the Ultra Wormhole, shininess rises depending on how many rings the wormhole has and how far you are in the ride.
Giratina will appear in the Cave World once you put Mr Time and Space in the party.
If you here Mr. Antimatter, get ready.
Don't forget to save.
(I know nothing about shiny hunting)
Wormhole Legendaries and Ultra Beasts are full odds (unless you have a shiny charm), 1/4096
I’m pretty sure Palkia and Dialga are version exclusive

In my opinion the easiest way to get to a Giratina is in Platinum. The story takes you to it and you can soft reset to get it. You can do this in Diamond and Pearl, but you have to navigate through Turnback Cave. However the odds for Giratina are 1/8192 in these games

Now if you have both Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphire or Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, you can get both Dialga and Palkia and go for Giratina with higher odds are 1/4096
The odds can also be lowered to 1/1024 if you have the shiny charm in these games

About Chain Fishing in ORAS: Don't you rarely get anything other than Magikarp? And I don't use the DexNav nearly as much as I think I'm supposed to.

I haven’t tried chain fishing in years, don’t really remember it much (:

Fun fact: Shiny Pokémon got their name because of their debut game, Gold and Silver. They were GBC games, but also worked on the GB. The GB was monochrome, so a star sparkled around the Shiny, and Shiny Pokémon got their name from that.

Their English name yeah, I think they're called Colorful or something in Japanese

No, if you use a super rod to chain fish then in certain places you'll never get Magikarp

How do you get a Super Rod? I've beaten the game, including Delta Episode, and I only have a Good Rod. (Then again, I never learned Cut until a few months ago, so that might be the case.)

Hoenn is the region I know the least, but the Super Rod is generally found post game I think

I found it, but I don't know whether or not I'll actually get my 3DS and get it:

Mossdeep City
  • From the Pokemon Center, go straight down at the cross road
  • When you reach some steps, turn right
  • Continue right until you see a flight of steps, and go up them
  • Go up until you see a house, and enter it
  • In the househere will be a fisherman. Interact with him, and he will give you a Super Rod
It doesn't say when, but I don't think there are any requirements other than reaching Mossdeep City.

Edit: I got it, and tested it out for a while. I got 2 Wailmer, 1 Remoraid, and 0 Magikarp.

I found a Shiny Spearow in Let’s Go Pikachu earlier this month.
In fact, it was on the 7th.

I tried to shiny hunt in LG and I just kept chaining. Couldn't find anything. Also, trying to get the 150 for the shiny charm… just gotta wait for my friend to get LG:E.

My dex is at 145
I still need the four trade evolutions, Scyther, and Mewtwo (which I plan to shiny hunt)
I don't have a Mew or Melmetal, but those aren't required and I will get both eventually
