Welcome to Canisle School for Dogs
**SCRIPT**

*Introduction, with theme song*

*Poppy, Cream, and Fudge are waiting outside their house for the school bus.*

POPPY: Hi there! My name’s Poppy. Ever wonder what it’s like to live on an island full of dogs? Well, you’re about to find out.
CREAM: (tartly) Zip it, Fudge!
POPPY: Today’s super exciting – I’m starting school! I’ve just graduated university and I’m now going to Canisle School for Dogs, with my two siblings: Fudge and Cream.
FUDGE: There’s not enough chocolate! And I specifically asked for cocoa infused water, not the disgusting tap kind!
CREAM: You need to look up the dictionary definition of “healthy.” Now shut up!
FUDGE: Grrrrrrrrrrrr….
*just then, the bus pulls in*
POPPY: Guys! The bus’s here!
*bus doors open*
CREAM: *shoves Fudge onto bus* (happily, in a patronizing way) Oh, good!
*transition to scene 2*
*Poppy is on the bus, desperately looking for a seat. She then spots Caramel and sits down next to her.*
POPPY: (laughing) Oh, hello! I’m Poppy.
CARAMEL: *looking up from her book, closing it over.* Oh, err – (happily) Caramel!
*they shake paws*
CARAMEL: Oh hold on - *scribbles frantically in her book* (triumphantly) yes! I’ve just made a mathematical breakthrough! They’ll call it the –
*scene cuts to Caramel getting off the bus, Poppy by her side*
SNOWDROP: *on her phone with Cream* I know phones aren’t allowed, but – OMG!! This is totes cute, Cream!
CREAM: I know! So, so, like – adorable!
*camera pans to the male dogs (the boys.) Apricot and Calico are playing football (soccer) against Ace 2. Fudge is cheering Apricot on.*
FUDGE: (shouting) Go on, Apricot!
*suddenly, Ace 2 loses his footing and trips.*
ACE 2: (in pain) Owww! (whimpering) My back legs!
*Ace 1 rushes over with Rosie by her side*
ACE 1: Oh no, Ace!! Are you okay? Do you need a plaster? *Ace 2 nods* Here’s my emergency supply. Oh, you poor thing!
ACE 2: Thanks, sis. I’m feeling a lot better now.
*Ace 1 shoots Fudge a dirty look. Fudge leans backwards, paw on his chest, but then trips over himself*
ACE 1: You idiot! You hurt my brother! What have you got to say for yourself?
FUDGE: (stammering) Err – I didn’t – errrrrr…..
*scene cuts to the dogs lined up*
TEACHER 1: Hello, new Year 1 pups! Welcome to Canisle School for Dogs! Okay, we will start the term with… *short paws* the register!
TEACHER 2: Okay! Class A first. Apricot?
APRICOT: Here.
TEACHER 1: Calico?
CALICO: Here!
TEACHER 1: Caramel?
CARAMEL: Here, Miss! But could you possibly move Calico out of the class? He’s super annoying.
CALICO: (angrily) How dare -
TEACHER 1: And finally… *Poppy and Caramel, Apricot and Fudge and Ace 2 all have their paws crossed* Poppy!
POPPY: *punches the air* Here, Miss!
ACE 2, APRICOT AND FUDGE: (sadly) Awwww!
CREAM, SNOWDROP, ROSIE, ACE 1, CARAMEL AND POPPY: (happily) Yay!!
TEACHER 2: And now for my class. Cream? Ace? Ace? Snowdrop? Fudge? Rosie?
CREAM, ACE 1, ACE 2, SNOWDROP, FUDGE AND ROSIE: Here!
TEACHER 2: Well, that’s that, then!
*scene cuts to classroom scene*
TEACHER 1: Right then, Year 1! It’s time to vote for your School Council Representative!
*scene cuts to Poppy and Caramel walking down a corridor*
POPPY: Good job on getting School Council Rep, Caramel!
CARAMEL: Thanks! I can’t wait to get the badge.
POPPY: Badge? I would’ve tried out if I’d known there was a badge in this!
*the two suddenly notice Ace 1 looking sad over in the corner and they walk over*
POPPY: Hi there, my name is Poppy and this is Caramel. What’s wrong?
ROSIE: Ace is super upset because she’s lost her lucky pencil. (sighs)
POPPY: Whatever’s wrong, don’t get my big sister Cream involved. She’ll turn this thing into a massive drama.
CREAM: Get my big sister Cream involved in what?
POPPY: (suspiciously) Err… nothing!
POPPY: Maybe we could help look for it? The pencil?
CARAMEL: Wait, hold on! I think we should try and take Ace’s mind off it.
ROSIE: Excellent idea! C’mon Ace, let’s go to the lunch hall!
*jolly music starts, as Ace and the others go to the lunch hall and share snacks*
ACE 1: What could any of you trade me… for a DigDog? (DigDog is a parody of KitKat) *Ace 1 takes a DigDog out of her pocket*
CARAMEL: A slice of my homebaked gingerbread cake?
ACE 1: Deal!
*scene switches to the field*
ROSIE: Let’s play bulldog!
CARAMEL: What’s bulldog?
ROSIE: Somebody starts as the bulldog, and then when they say “bulldog!” you all run across. If you get tagged by the bulldog, you are a bulldog too. The last dog remaining wins!
CARAMEL: Got it! *tags Poppy* Bulldog!
*they all play bulldog happily, and Ace 1 wins*
*music stops, and Ace 1 and the others are walking down the arts corridor, it is nearly the end of break, and Fudge is walking in the opposite direction*
FUDGE: Ooh, a pencil! This one looks nice, too!
ACE 1: *noticing the pencil* (gasps) My lucky pencil! You’ve found it!
FUDGE: What?
*Ace 1 runs over to hug Fudge, and Fudge gives her the pencil*
ACE 1: Sorry about earlier…
FUDGE: It’s okay! Everyone makes mistakes.
*the others run over and they have a group hug*
APRICOT: *from a distance* Fudge! C’mon!
FUDGE: See you, guys!
ACE 1: Break was so fun, guys! Thanks!
ROSIE, CARAMEL, AND POPPY: You’re welcome!
ACE 1: So… what’s planned for next break?
