So.

I was shiny hunting for pikachu in Viridian forest. I didn't have the shiny charm, so I was just using catch combos and all that…

By 31 pikachu, there was literally a pikachu spawning every 3 seconds, with this noise playing every time.

I was hunting for one and a half hours, with approximately 1,800 pikachu cries playing during the time period.

And after those 1,800 pikachu spawns with a 1 out of 300 chance…

I find a stinkin' shiny weedle and name it pikachu to make me feel better.

Does that count as good luck?

During Community Day Weekend in Pokémon Go, I didn't find a single shiny eeve, bulbasaur, mareep, or charmander so I named all the shiny Pokémon I did find after one of those.

Guys I'm terrified to fight Whitney
I was thinking “Oh, it can't be that big a deal, everyone just complains about her too much… I'll just grind a lot, take out Clefairy quickly with my physical attackers, maybe Encore Miltank to Attract and rely on female Pokémon… yeah, we can Kakuna/Metapod grind in Ilex Forest for the defense stats… it'll be okay.” And then I calculate Rollout's damage and on the fifth turn its base power is 480.

Oh yeah, for comparison, Catastropika's base power is 210.
And Fury Cutter's maximum base power is 160.

Well I'll be stuck Kakuna/Metapod grinding for defense for a while… probably Heracross grinding too, for Exp… It's a good thing I saved Azalea Town from Team Rocket, they won't mind me sticking around for a whole year and KOing all their Heracross

In Pokéstar Studios language, it's not good or bad, but “weird”
Maybe there's something you did wrong so that the chance isn't 1/300? …I tried Headbutting for a Heracross, which only appears in certain trees, and after probably 300+ Headbutts, I realized I'd done everything wrong and was Headbutting the wrong trees… though that's very different from Shiny Hunting

After a bit more research, my method gave me a shiny chance of 1 out of 315.08 for every pokemon, not just pikachu. The only bonus the catch combo gave to me in terms of just pikachu, was a significantly higher spawn rate compared to everything else. Yet somehow with 7 times the amount of pikachu spawning than weedle, I got a shiny weedle.

Shiny pikachu will feel the wrath of my ultra ball.
