I miss early internet memes. Caramelldansen? Doge? Grumpy Cat? Leekspin? LOLcats? That’s the stuff. Nowadays memes are surreal and detached, and that’s fine I guess, but there were simpler times when we could be content with laughing at a picture of a cat with the caption ‘can I haz cheezburger?’ and a weird face. Remember those ‘doge Twinkie in space’ backpacks? Remember it’s raining tacos? Remember bacon/ninjas/mustaches/waffles/XD? Remember philosoraptor? Remember ‘Im in ur computerz, fixin ur hard drivez’? Remember fun? Remember happiness? Remember hope and joy for the future? Remember a feeling other than existential dread? Nobody does. Time moves on and so will we. The heat death of the universe fast approaches.And that's why our saviors, Thanos Car and Bongo Cat came down to Earth

What’s that supposed to mean? I wasn’t born in the wrong generation, I was around for those things at their primetime. Maybe not as early as Leekspin, but you can bet I was around for the grumpy cat craze and the raining tacos/bacon/potatoes lolrandom obsession. I owned a LOLCATZ calendar. I still have the grumpy cat book. I’m pretty sure I have old doodles of Nyan Cat. I made philosoraptor memes of my own. My class had a battle between tacos and potatoes as to which were more popular. I know of a time when you could sing ‘do you like waffles’ and they would reply with ‘yes I like waffles.’ And now it’s all gone. This is like being in Pompeii, getting frozen, and then coming back to life and finding out that everything you loved is a ruin. Of course there are a bunch of new things that sort of resemble the old things like bongo cat, but you’re from 79 AD. Yep. I know they’re basically dead by now, but imo they’re the best memes we’ve had in a long time. I just never really found despacito or jokes about fortnite very funny.
