Yeah, I'm on Scratch often and maintenance is a very rare thing. Plus this was 2 days in a row.

As this topic has gotten many different answers, there could be even more. The Twitter post usually says the reason of why the site shuts down, but maybe that Twitter post was there because maybe the Scratch Team is testing/implementing secret features. Who knows? It could be something to do with the “Scratch Day” post, or something related to Scratch 3.
