Personally I disagree. At times, reasons are helpful, but in my opinion there's nothing wrong with simply saying you like the idea. I think we should have a featured users section. I see a lot of really good users that don't get noticed. (And no I'm NOT trying to get noticed with this.)
There would be a featured Scratcher AND a featured NEW scratcher.
Limit followers: (NS: 10) (S: 50) Does that sound good?

If you think a user is being mean, then you should report that user. Don't post on an unrelated topic about it.
Also, this topic is pretty old, and since you posted on it unrelated, that is called necroposting, which is bad.
