Odd, I really like the idea maybe final smashes can even be competitive??? nah…). Gets rid of all the clunky Final Smashes and it's like “Alright, we had our fun, you're dead”

I feel as if Sma5h also appeals more to the competitive community than before (and some things even improve casual play), big hits slow down time, there's more options on previously dangerous maneuvers, even the little score thing on stock matches. Not only do I want to play Sma5h at some point, I'm almost more excited to watch competitive Sma5h too.
I want a sense of individuality with regards to Smash characters, and even if it means having different gimmicky Final Smashes, then I'm all for it. Competitiveness can wait.

The part that saddens me the most is that Donkey Kong and Little Mac now have near identical Final Smashes. Like, what?
I can see your point, but I do disagree.
I would probably care more, but I think most of the characters I like are unaffected
I pray that Yoshi's awesome Final Smash won't be affected, but I'm a tad worried seeing as how his might be considered a “transformation” (which I hear is something that Sakurai aims to keep from Ultimate)
I can almost garuntee they will change it. Look at what they did with Sonic. They’ll probably change Diddy Kong’s too.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed transformations like Wario Man aren't in Ultimate. Snake is probably going to be hit pretty hard, sadly.

To be honest, comp matches don't use any items, including the Smash Ball. While I like a lot of the changes made for more competitive play (stages before characters is a little weird to me, but understandable) it seems like this is going a little too far.

I'm really hoping there will be a way to turn off stage hazards, though. Super Smash Flash 2 does that and it makes some stages so much better. Plus Omega stages were really disappointing in Sm4sh.

There's already Battlefield versions of stages in Sma5h, which is what Omega should've been. I can very slightly see the Smash Ball being competitive now if matches are 5 stocks (and let's say it's put on rare so it'd take off one stock out of the 10 combined) but it seems like they'll be 2-3 stocks.

Ultimate is essentially appealing to the core Smash fanbase, which are the “hype beast” kind of people (and I'm one of ‘em), so yeah, it’s probably more for those kind of people who spend 300+ hours playing it rather than 30 (which isn't exactly some great thing, just speaking my mind)

There's gonna be a battlefield mode on top of the final destination mode and I'm pretty sure they said at some point you can toggle stage hazards

I saw the direct in its entirety.
And I was thinking about possible DLC characters.
Considering Everyone wanted Ridley in the base game, I wouldn't be surprised if they added Waluigi as DLC.
Another character I would like to see is Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn. Considering Cloud was added in as DLC, I wouldn't be surprised if they added another PS character.

Nah, it'd have to at least be a classic PS character like Crash or Kratos and even that seems iffy

Well, they didn't reveal the characters at E3, and nobody got cut from Smash 4, so I think that my prediction was right.
