Sorry, I wrote most of this late at night. I think I can explain myself better now.
By continuing to push the joke about fidget spinners you continue to push the misconception that they are only fun toys- it's not that hard of a concept to grasp. This misconception hurts the people who want to use them for their actual purpose for the reasons I have explained earlier. Even if you personally don't engage in it, a large portion of the fidget spinner meme was calling them cringey and the death of society just because kids liked them. A lot of the jokes on this thread are ironic/sarcastic comments about fidget spinners being cool- the main reason they are ironic/sarcastic being the preconception that fidget spinners are just a cringey kid's trend.
Fidget cubes are an alternative but they don't work for everyone and most of the other toys tend to have a stigma around them due to society- tangles are seen as something you'd give a baby, chews are chews (think that explains itself) and you can't really take slime with you on the town- hence why I went straight to explaining it with not using any. People barely have any options that wouldn't put them at risk of harassment, which is why I find taking yet another one away for the sake of a joke to be pretty irritating.
I'm not upset because people are using them as toys, I'm upset because every time people come up with a new way or device that people can use, some people rip all the context off it and use it as a cool new trend. I wouldn't mind it as a trend if people were respectful about the purpose of if the people who originally started it were given full credit, but they aren't. It's a similar kind of issue to cultural appropriation- people see something they think is cool or cure looking that belongs to another culture and just take it without asking, giving credit, or properly understanding what it is. It's not a situation where I think everything should belong to me, it's in fact the reverse- the majority thinks everything should belong to them.

The joke is old now, and I'd prefer it to stay dead.

But yeah, funny meme.
I have autism, not entirely the case

They're a little fun to mess around with but it doesn't help me focus, in fact, the opposite appears to be the case, I focus on it rather than what it's supposed to help me focus on (not that I had too much trouble focusing to begin with)
Just because it doesn't work for you specifically doesn't mean no-one is helped by it. There are quite a few individuals who found then useful for focusing and for keeping calm, which I kind of forgot to mention on my first post.

I just don't really like the whole fidget spinner meme because it all stemmed from people who didn't care about their uses seeing them and thinking they'd make cool toys, which ended up causing them to be a popular trend which people were then made fun of for engaging in, including those who were just using them to help themselves. The trend also got them banned in a lot of schools because teachers took one look at the trend and decided they were just fun toys. Now not only can a lot of people who find them helpful not use them when they need to, but they now feel bad using them because of the whole “fidget spinners are for cringey kids xddd” stuff.
Pretty darn certain that studies go against that case (but if they work for you, then you know what that's none of my beeswax)

You do not control consumers, making something exclusive to a certain group of people is rather selfish. You're spending so much time worrying about what other people think about it that you're even ruining it for yourself. The only person that controls you is you and the only person who controls other people is themselves.

There was this guy I knew who wanted to try to entertain himself on an hour long bus ride with a fidget spinner. That would never work. Never. Ever.
