I can't be the only one who finds Thanos' plan ridiculously terrible- not from a narrative point, more from a logical one. Like, if you have enough power to just snap your fingers and kill half of the universe, surely you have enough power to snap your fingers and get rid of poverty by a more friendly, desirable means.
Eh. It's a lot easier to destroy than it is to create. The infinity gauntlet may not have been capable of doing much more. Didn't he almost break it when he started in NYC?

Yeah, but there are a lot of simpler things he could've tried other than killing half the population. Plus it wouldn't even work in the long run, just look at how much the earth's population has increased in 1000 years- in time, the population would just be as big as it was before he did it. If he can kill half of the universe's population, couldn't he have maybe terraformed a few barren planets into perfect places for massive farms? Affected birth rates to keep populations low? Fixed the economy and solved the wealth imbalance?

wealth imbalance is a good thing, it drives progress. and sure, but he's thinking that there are X resources out there, and thus, if you halve the population, the remaining half, since we're currently growing linearly, will live for much much longer.

I get that, I just think his idea is wack- I like it as a character element and think it's well handled despite it's silliness, I just don't think it would actually work irl plus it has a lot of contradictions (like, you don't want people to suffer yet you're killing their friends and family) which is what I was trying to say.

Well, I mean, it's a very realistic villain. A lot of bad guys in history wanted to do good, but did it in a very bad way.

Yeah, that's what I like about Thanos and his plan (I've done a really bad job at explaining myself, haven't I?)- It's a very interesting part of his character. I hope in the next part of infinity war we get to see more of why he came to this conclusion; I know that we saw a bit of his backstory, but it doesn't fully explain the events that led up to him deciding that killing half of everyone was the best way to solve it- I want to see what lead him to feel that way.

Since a new Marvel film is coming out soon, does anyone here think that there should be an Official Marvel topic on this sub forum?

Actually, I think I'll make a topic like that.

My favorite prediction for Avengers 4 are that the remaining Avengers will go back in time via quantum realm shenanigans (which we hopefully learn more about in Ant-Man and the Wasp) to collect the 6 Infinity Stones before Thanos does and reverse the snap. They will go back to moments in other movies to get them, like the battle of New York to get the Tesseract.

I also think that Captain America will die in the next one…

please not Thor though… anyone but Thor…

and bring back Loki
