Introduction: I was invited to create some debate questions for your election, so here they are based on my experience for what is important in the long-term view. Enjoy!

Official Debate Questions

1.) Considering that the general flow of users to the requests forum is decreasing, what steps will you take to increase the amount of user traffic to the requests forum?
I suggest that shop owners put a link to their shop in their signature, to attract general forumers to the Requests forum. I also suggest that users put a link to their shop or the Requests forum in general in their “What I'm Working On” to attract viewers of their profile to the Requests forum. Another way to get more people on the Requests forum is to invite non-forumers with skills you need to join your shop.

2.) What would your policy be on member activity?
For both shops and members of the SPA, I suggest a bimonthly activity check. If a shop or member fails to respond, they will receive a reminder on their profile. If they fail to respond to the next as well, they will receive another reminder with a warning that they will be cut if they fail to respond to the next. If they fail to respond to the next, they will receive a notification that they have been cut from the SPA, and can reapply for their position in a week.

3.) How would you expand the SPA beyond the requests forum?
I would expand it to studio shops, project shops and art cafés, to give more support for those organisations. I would also consider expanding it to ScratchNetwork in some form.

4.) What is the most expanded vision which you could give regarding the SPA and its role in the scratch community?
I hope for a future where the SPA is viewed as a way to gain partnerships, be part of a large shop community and get support for their struggling shop with a subsidiary I hope to make called the Shop Assistance Agency (SAA). I hope the SPA will soon be considered a fundamental part of any shop's life.

I will establish a new subsidiary called the Shop Assistance Agency (SAA) to assist struggling shops, increasing the SPA's helpfulness for shops. I will also ensure the SPA runs smoothly, fixing up discrepancies and loopholes in the laws, as well as improving them.

3.Will you allow others to propose laws? If so how?
Yes, of three other members of the SPA agree with it. As another precaution, I ask that a position of power also authorises it.

4.How will you let others vote? Can people get multiple votes? What is required to get a vote?
I like the current system of voting, but I think anyone should be able to vote if they provide a reason how they have contributed to the SPA and the reason is approved by a position of power. Everyone will only have one vote.

5.How will you stabilize the SPA for the present and future? New members are either at the bottom or drowned out in the partnerships list and as of now hardly anything has been done since the first election?
I will set up the SAA and then leave the rest of the SPA the same, truthfully. I will run the SPA smoothly and steadily, paving the way for more ambitious future presidents.

I would remove banners, and simply list the titles of the shops. I would then place icons next to each entry that represent “Art”, “Coding”, “Reviews”, etc. to show what services are provided. I would then ask the shop what it's average response time is and place an icon representing that time.

I have a bunch of propositions. If I start being inactive, I'll delegate to my VP and Secretary.

11.2: A vote for changes to legislation of this Association shall occur if, and only if,
11.2.1: The President of this Association so decrees; or
11.2.2: Three members of this Association so request

It's important to encourage the President to propose laws so that things actually get done. But if the President is ignoring an issue, there must be other means of proposing a law.

4.How will you let others vote? Can people get multiple votes? What is required to get a vote.
Relevant section (my emphasis):

11.4.3: There shall be three days for discussion. In this discussion, if someone wishes to suggest modifications to such legislation–or to make an unofficial announcement–they can mark non-11.2 compliant posts with [color=red]This is not an official legislation proposition or announcement[/color] which is clearly visible.
11.4.4: So long as the main goals of the legislation are not changed; and the idea for the change was voiced as early as possible, after those three days elapse, the text to be voted for can be changed.
11.4.5: Next, members of the Association may begin their posts with “Support”, “Reject”, or “Abstain” to place their vote. They can do this for three days. They should make clear which law proposition they are voting for, if there is more than one legislation being voted for.
11.4.6: Once those three days have elapsed, all those who did not vote are considered to have Abstained. The last vote per person is the one which counts. If Supporters is strictly greater than Rejecters, the legislation shall be passed (else it will not).

The order shall be randomized every week, and every day there will be a random selection per category “Art”, “Music”, etc. Each shop may not reappear within two weeks or appear in two categories at the same time.

1. What will you do about the ever-growing partner's list? It's huge, disorganized, brings more benefits to the shops that joined first as they are at the top of the list, and having to put the list in your shop is driving away some shops, including mine.

My plan is to make a grid system, a list of small cubes. When one is clicked it opens the shop. This would use up much less room and would look much more appealing.

2. The last president really only started the adding new jobs to the SPA without anything being done beyond that. How active will you be in making laws and bettering the SPA? If you start falling behind in activity what will you do?

My plans are to make the SPA a co-operative. Every member can propose changes without the Presidents authorisation. In case of a Presidents inactivity or lack of action, this will solve things.

3. Will you allow others to propose laws? If so how? / 4. How will you let others vote? Can people get multiple votes? What is required to get a vote?

Yes, when the SPA becomes a co-operative, everyone will be able to propose and vote for anything that needs change.




5. How will you stabilize the SPA for the present and future?
ScratchNetwork will help expand the SPA greatly. The new group features will support growth and stability in the SPA.
