Should I even bother sharing projects anymore? I've been here for 5 years, and nothing of mine ever got much recognition.

Not one of my projects has ever really been noticed, my best projects only have around 40 love-its, and half of Scratch gets over 200 followers in a week simply by “art-ing”. 3 people (excluding me) have visited my profile in the past month. No one will ever see any more of my projects. Should I even share my projects anymore? Come on, Griffpatch is the only person I know of who doesn't simply make cheap art collabs and actually gets noticed. Scratch has been taken over by furries, and if you don't make their special brand of animal art, good luck getting known. I have 124 followers, and half of them are cheap throwaway accounts that simply existed.

Summary of this rant: Arrogant brat who makes literally nothing good thinks he deserves more followers than he actually gets, and asks the Scratch community if his account still has a purpose.

Look, everyone likes different things, and while I understand your frustration, you shouldn't take it out on the art community or the furry community- they're doing their own thing, and that's OK. Also, 40 love-its is quite a bit anyway: I only achieved that on my old account for a featured project, the rest of the time I got about 20 for a quality project.
I personally think the appeal of scratch is less about lots of attention, but more about attention from your specific ‘clique’ of friends. Even tough I got tons of attention for my one featured project, I have much more fun making boredom cat stuff with my friends even though they barely scrape 10 views.

I have 1 friend. A single friend who just remixes AYFEITV, which I'd turn into a full game based on my take on the Add-Yourself fight simulator, but it would turn out glitchy and unplayable.

Try interacting with more people: do some roleplays, get involved in a small studio, find a forum in TIMaC or TIRaP about something you like and comment there often, do a collab, like and comment on a new scratcher's project, enter a contest- these sound really silly but you end up meeting a few scratchers who either want to interact with you or just end up interacting with you often because you're doing something together. There are people on this site who are really friendly and will put in effort to check out your projects.

I mean, that sounds like a good idea. I recently met a relatively new Scratcher who remixed a project of mine, and we occasionally interact. Though, 90% of Scratch is 10-year-old furries and fans of that book about warrior cats. I can't really name anyone other than Griffpatch who is well-known AND makes games. (And if you look at my projects, most are complete and utter garbage. I have around 200 shared projects, and most of them are *.)

I'm severely limited on resources too. The only things I can use are Microsoft Paint and Scratch's editor, both with a mouse. I don't have a fancy drawing tablet or anything, so I can't make animations. I don't have the skills to make custom sprite art either. I'm around 15 years old and have the talent of the average 2nd grader. And there's kids that are 7 or 8 that are making better stuff than me.

Having people look at your projects can be an amazing feeling, but you should not rely on that and have it be the reason you do scratch.

When you get to the point where you only scratch in the hopes people will view your projects, follow you, or leave a love and a favorite, you may want to consider whether you make projects because you enjoy it, or because you hope other people will enjoy them. It's okay to want both, and it's perfectly fine to want people to tell you they like your work; but if the only reason you make games, art, or other creative projects, is to get popular or just receive a love, you'll never be satisfied and I'd recommend experimenting with different things to find what you really like doing.

In the end, you should make projects because it's something that brings you happiness, not make projects because the attention you receive brings you happiness. You can have both, but if you just have the latter, being on scratch will become a chore.

I'd also like to add, please don't take out your frustration on the art and furry communities. I can completely understand where you're coming from, but Scratch is a place to be creative and just be happy; as a member of the art community it really hurts when people put us down for doing what we love.

Also!! I noticed in a previous comment you said you couldn't animate because you're limited to two programs and do not have a touchscreen. However, this is not true. All you need to animate is patience and the willingness to keep practicing. If you're looking for more experienced programs, I suggest downloading FireAlpaca; it's a free program that allows you to both draw and animate. It's a little overwhelming at first but not too difficult to get used to.

In conclusion, I hope you're able to find happiness in what you do, and also receive the positive attention you deserve after working so hard for five years.

Well, I use a free phone app to do my art (which I rarely post tbh)- Aurodesk Sketchbook, if you want to check it out. Talent doesn't really matter either, especially considering that a lot of popular scratch games and animations mostly just do the bare minimum for their genre- most platformers just use griffpatch's tutorial and most animations use very simple figures with minimal movement. The appeal is usually more in the charm of these things, for example the unique game mechanics in a platformer of the original joke in a animation. Don't feel bad about not being able to draw well, either: I'm 17, and the amount of progress I've made in my work since I was 15 is phenomenal.

I get your point EpicPika, but please be considerate that art is part of the Scratch community and creativity part. I say this with all due respect and mean to start no fight, BUT part of making games are art, unless the game is invisible. About Furries please don't hate a community just for what they do? Sure there is some inappropriate art but most of people just use furries with oc's to make them more interesting instead of inappropriate. I hope you can consider respecting the community as it's not all bad.

Also, be grateful for what you have! We're on scratch to have fun. Followers are just something to boost you forward but a lot of people keep going without them.

Sorry, I may not have been clear enough. I'm referring to people who simply make JUST art, and put no interactivity in it. I'm fine with those projects, but I'm just saying that my skill set isn't going to get me far.

Thanks for making that clear! I still have to say people do put work into art and people have a reason to like it though

As someone who only makes art (for the most part) that's really offensive. ;; I understand it wasn't meant to be so but we're here to have fun and share our creativity with other people. Some artists are coders who just want to share what they can do without making full games, and that's okay! We're no different; both coders and artists want to do what they love.

Referring to your original post, I'd like to add in a suggestion that might help you out! I've found that when you're very active in loving, favoriting, following, and commenting, people tend to notice you and your projects more. Try joining some studios and making some new friends! It's fun and might just get your projects more noticed. (please note I am NOT suggesting for you to spam love/favorite/follow/comment in order to get popular, but rather be an active member in the community.) Good luck!!

I admire the effort that is put into their art.

Also, something to note to all the readers of this post: I don't blindly hate the furry community for no reason, I just simply dislike them based on experiences I've had with them (particularly on Reddit) and that I find them annoying at times.

If I see the words “OwO what's this? *notices _____*” one more time…

What part of it was offensive? I didn't say anything rude or insulting, I said that I was referring to the people who make animations in an earlier post, and also stated that MY skill set won't get me anywhere. Maybe you misread it, @DreamMist?

I'm sorry if I upset you? :O It mostly just hurt my feelings that you kept portraying the Scratch art community as a whole as bad. For an example, “Come on, Griffpatch is the only person I know of who doesn't simply make cheap art collabs and actually gets noticed” just really seemed to be targeting us? However, I know that isn't what you intended and am not mad at you for my confusion. I hope that clears it up.

This'll probably be one of my last comments over here as we seem to be straying from answering your original question (as how you can get more noticed.) but if you'd like to continue the conversation I have no problem chatting on my profile.
