I was thinking of making a bot that helps around on the forums, such as alerts users when they post things that are supposed to be there.
ST, can you please confirm if I can program this bot?

Think about it, it may take a few minutes to do a report. This may even turn out to be an hour, or even two, that people could see it, and spam the moderators with reports. This bot would probably mark dead articles and otherwise do some moderating within seconds. It's great that you want to make things better in the forums! However, I would need to know a lot more detail about what you are proposing to do before weighing in with an opinion:
What are the function(s) it will perform?
On what computer is the program running?
How is it getting the information it uses to fulfill it's function(s)?

What are the function(s) it will perform? These might change, but at first, it will check around for posts it suspects are not ok for Scratch.
On what computer is the program running? Probably will end up being some kind of AWS computer.
How is it getting the information it uses to fulfill it's function(s)? Some would be stored on this topic and it grabs the RSS Feed to get settings. Other bits of data it would figure out itself.

Those who frequented the Advanced Forums in the past know what happened when somebody let a bot automatically reply to stuff in the Suggestions forum.
Granted, it wouldn't really happen again with an official bot, but bots that help out users aren't really designed for a forum environment, and I can't really think of any reasons why we need bots in the forums other than your suggestion; this place is fairly self-explanatory when you take the time to read the stickies.
