Just going to give the full timeline

My first exposure was probably in kindergarten, which was not too long after Diamond and Pearl came out. Someone brought their DS and was playing one of them. They had just gotten their bike in Eterna city. And then that was it until maybe second or third grade when I got my DS. My first game ever was Explorers of Time. Not long after, my friend gave me a copy of Soul Silver because he (for whatever reason) had two. He told me to play until I got to Rayquaza (I don't even think he knew if it was in the game or not, but it was like his favorite Pokémon) and give it back. Eventually I did get Rayquaza, but he let me keep it. Not too long after that, I got Black which had also come out recently. I got my first level 100, Emboar, on that game (because I used only Emboar and Reshiram. I was one of those kids). After that, I got White the summer before Black/White two came out, and then that Christmas I got White 2 (which was also the day I got my first ever shiny). After that I sorta fell out of Pokémon. I kept getting games, but as I didn't have a 3Ds, I couldn't really move forward. I got Pearl and Heart Gold as Christmas gifts sometime, and at one point my brother gave me a Diamond (the one I'm currently playing through) that once belonged to someone from his school. I remember I couldn't really talk about Pokémon at school because I didn't know anything about X or Y. In the summer of 2015, my brother got a 3Ds for his birthday. I told one of my friends about it, and he gave me his Y version because he had X and played that more. I would secretly play it on my brother's system when he wasn't there. And then that Christmas, my Aunt got me a 3Ds out of nowhere, along with X. I think sometime over the next summer I got Omega Ruby, but I didn't really care for it. What was more important to me was that I got Yellow for virtual console. I got Moon for Christmas, a brand new game for the first time in four years. My brother got Sun, but he never played it. I pretty much took over. Then last year, I did something I'd never done before. I got Ultra Moon mere days after it came out. I also got Ultra Sun for Christmas (though I was really hoping to get Platinum). I'm definitely getting the Switch game this Christmas, or sometime next year if it gets delayed.

There are all the main series games I've had, except for the first one. As for the other spin-offs I've played, here:

And I have lots of TCG stories but I'm not going to get into those

I got into the series when I was 6 or 7. I grew up during Gen 5, but I first got the games around when Gen 6 came out. Heck, I remember getting Pokemon Y the day it was released! I remember sitting in bed and watching the premieres of Best Wishes when I was a toddler. Which came with the additional downside of not knowing that Team Rocket had a Wobbafett
