A guide to suggestions

I believe there should be changes to this:

Don't suggest things that may make Scratch seem more like that than it already is. Scratch is supposed to be a programming language. Make sure your suggestions keep it that way. And, Scratch doesn't always have to be super simple, and, for that matter, shouldn't be. For example, if you suggested a “physics” block, which made a sprite follow the laws of physics, this would probably be rejected. Why? It would certainly be useful! The problem is (beyond the difficulties in making such a block) that it makes Scratch too easy. It is kind of taking the “program” out of “Imagine, program, share”. We don't want to be able to make anything in five minutes; that ruins the point of programming, having fun, and putting effort into your projects. However, you can always feel free to make your own physics tutorial, and share it with the community, so that those who don't know how to program physics could learn to program physics.
1. Scratch was meant for introduction of programming, not meant to be very advanced. Even the most complicated scripts come from easy blocks.
2. Physics blocks are being added as an extension to Scratch 3.0.

Maybe some cool new stuff like squads. Basically 2-10 accounts sharing a studio and you can make it private or public, but either way, the scratch team can see it.

Hi!

Please make a new topic for all suggestions (unless one already exists or something). The Scratch Team won't see them here. Also, please do not advertise in this thread. You can always advertise projects in the Show & Tell forum, or your signature so it will be visible under all your posts (and then if you make a lot of constructive posts, you'll get more attention). Thanks !

Don't you just hate when people advertise in their signatures (and raisin cookies that look like chocolate chip ones. That's just not okay).

This is a great guide, but could you add that putting the number of supporters in the title is discouraged?

I know a lot of people dislike when people do that, but I didn't think that the Scratch Team had ever actually said it was discouraged. I'll add that here if they actually did anywhere. Thanks!

Hey Scratch! I have a new suggestion so it's even on youtube and it would look good here as well, so it think you might agree that scratch is a very white kinda website and some people might just think there should be a black color so the web could be either white or black I dunno where the option could be it could maybe be in the top? This is a suggestion though we really don't need this XD i would really like it as my computer is white so it would have a good look with it Thank you

Hi! Nice idea! Please create a new thread for it in the suggestions forum, though, as the Scratch Team won't see it here .

I think people finding ways to make coding easier on themselves is actually pretty imaginative. Coding can and for most people should be about enjoying how to figure out the solution to a problem, but if they know how to do something and can add less lines of codes so they can focus on important stuff, then I say go for it.

Hi scratch. My suggestion would be the possibility of making a game online. Thank you.

Online games are actually a common usage of Scratch - feel free to explore them over here. That being said, in the future, please post all suggestions in a separate thread within the suggestions forum where other users and the Scratch Team will see them. Thanks, and welcome to the forums!

Um, I kinda have a problem with 3.0. The costume editor isn't that great. It's a lot harder to use.

Can it be zoomed out a bit more? Like the 2.0 one?

(I liked the beta one better tbh.)

Scratch should add a block that detects if you are mobile or not. Wouldn't that be handy!?
