Scary Projects - Problems with reporting projects

In the past I have had alerts that seemed a bit pointless, even silly, because the scratch team claimed it was too scary. I was (and still am) confused as to why a had received these alerts. Which projects were reported also confused me. I once posted a project featuring my character when she was still made of a few sticks and circles, but with red eyes and sharp teeth, nothing too graphic, but still got an reported. But I never got an alert when I posted an animation that featured a human with solid colour blood covering her eyes, and removed and deleted that one when I realised it was inappropriate. Take my advice, when you feel like a project should be reported, check a few other projects made by the same person, because you never know, they might have posted scarier projects than that.

Stories are true, take my advice and be careful what you post. Also, don't be extremely sensitive towards ‘scary’ projects.

Is this a question about Scratch?

My question is, why do people report projects on such short notice?

If they think that the project is inappropriate?

Projects aren't removed without good reason

The first project I mentioned was actually pretty tame, compared to others I posted and removed.

Scratch has a large young userbase, and is aimed at primarily children so a lot of projects that may seem not too bad from your perspective could be really scary to younger users. It's the responsibility of us older users to make sure we keep things safe for the main audience, not the other way around- If your project is reported for being too scary, it's not the fault of the person reporting for being too sensitive.
Judging by your account, it seems like you do a lot of FNaF related stuff, which probably doesn't help: FNaF projects are discouraged and often marked as NFE due to the subject matter of the games.

I know, It just seems restraining for FNAF lovers and other older scratchers who like horror games.

Scary Projects - Problems with reporting projects

If I had another site to code and post projects on, I would download my characters and leave scratch for good. The restraints on fnaf related projects is making me feel like this isn't a place for me anymore. Its almost impossible to scare me, so its hard for me to tell when a project I made is too scary for the younger audience. I could ask my younger sister to test them to see if they are scary, but she is also very hard to scare. I love fnaf, and used to play fangames all the time. But one I could no longer search fnaf without the results being blocked, It added another wall to my desire to play the game. Scratch is one of the things I love, I don't want it to hurt another one of the things I love.

I hope you can see things from my point of view.

That's why I love youtube, there are millions of videos ready to try and scare me, and I like that. The problem with youtube is there is little to no interaction available. Watching videos of scary games is not the same as playing them. Also, I only have a chromebook, so I can't download steam or gamejolt to try and play any games. Scratch is the only place I can go to the play fnaf, and with the scratch team removing all fnaf games. Its almost impossible to find anything here. I still can reach a few games, and will never tell how to find them or what they are called. I want to keep the remains of all the fnaf fangames safe.

I will never tell anything about those few projects. So you will never find them, unless someone else tells you.

The best way to help both sides is to add a button that can stop an account from ever viewing a scary project. That way those who want to see them can see them, and those who don't, can't.

Scratch is supposed to be for all ages, though. Don't get me wrong, I love horror, but a website full of children is not the place to be putting it. If you find it nigh impossible to be responsible and keep the rules in mind, then that's an issue you need to work with yourself, not one scratch needs to accommodate you for.

Something like this would divide the scratch community and suggestions like this have been rejected for that reason. Plus, what if a young child decides to not click the button and exposes themselves to things they shouldn't be seeing at that age- not something that should be happening on a kid-friendly site for children. And how would this button decide if a project was scary, anyway? If it would just block NFE projects, then it's unnecessary as we already have a system in place that does that automatically for young scratchers. If this system would allow people to post even more graphic and scary content, then that ruins the whole concept of scratch being a children's website for young people to learn coding.

I know that, I didn't say they were automatically banned. I just saw that the OP made a lot of FNaF content and that they were getting projects reported and put two and two together.

Scratch is aimed for 8+, and a older-kid-aimed website is rejected.
Scary projects, like FANAF with a creepy story line, jump scares and gore is not allowed. And, as you have experienced, will lead in your projects being taken down.

In that case, create a youtube account; they have no limits to what you post(it seems).

There are limits on YouTube - terrorism etc.

The main problem with trying to rid scratch of fnaf is that, as i said, the only other place i can go to is Youtube, and you can't PLAY anything there.
I hate it when everyone disagrees with me, its annoying.

The problem is my parents won't let me create a youtube account. And, I only own a chromebook, so i can't just install steam or gamejolt to play fnaf games.

That's a way too personal issue to change the entire rules of scratch for. Scratch is a child friendly website, end of.
