I don't know if I said this before, but I bet locations like “Your Basement” should be reportable

I don't remember my original response to this suggestion if I had one, but I now revoke my support.

Even though I enjoy creativity with almost anything, particularly settings, the location setting is there for a purpose - for those who are wondering where people are generally from (not in a stalker way, but by country), they could simply look at what we have right now.

A lot of people would change it to illegitimate stuff, and if privacy is a leading reason, a setting to disable it should be used or introduced.

If people still really want to express their fictional location, then they can say it in the About Me - as long as it's appropriate in both privacy and appropriate“ness.”

On one hand, I like this idea because it would allow for more creativity and flexibility.

On the other hand, it would mess with the Scratch statistics.

Well, I'm not sure that being a real place is too much of an issue. Anyway, you can name your backyard something, like say, Kidonia, and your backyard is a real place, isn't? otherwise how is it on the earth? this might fix the “not a real place” problem
so if you have a custom location, on your profile it should say “not a real place;” then have the real location next to the ;
but this would require users to put their real location when they have a custom location, which might need a separate list that doesn't have the custom place option or an option to not choose a country

I'm completely sure it's a dupe,but i can't find it.

Maybe you could register with your country and then be able to change your country in the settings, those would affect stats
Then this could be something you could edit from your profile
