Put A Stop To Art Theft

1. Full support, this would definitely keep people aware.
2. The ST is trying their best, but for now, all we can do is report.
3. Basically what I said for 2, right now we can spread the word and make a studio, ect.

Plagiarism is absolutely unacceptable, so whenever you see someone stealing art then you need to report it.

Thank you so much for suggesting this, my biggest pet peeve ever is when people say “all credit to the original creators” and then are too lazy to link to the creators! Making linking the creators mandatory would make it so people who deserve attention for their work get noticed, this is usually hours of work wasted because of an art thief. They could actually be losing money!
Who would be losing money and why?
Well, people who make art as their job (such as animators on youtube) can lose their money if others get attention from taking their work. It's sort of the same with people on scratch, because the person who stole their work is getting follows, loves and favorites for it.
Say, I work hard at my violin skills, and replace someone's position in an orchestra.
Am I stealing that person's money (as I would earn the money from that position in their place)?
No.
Same applies here.
No, the same does not apply here. You said you replaced someone in an orchestra because you worked hard on your violin skills… you obviously deserved that position as you worked hard for it.
People who are stealing art do not but the effort into making it and are getting credit for it, which is unfair to the original creator. If the original artist gets payed for their work, they could be losing money because people are viewing the thief's copy of their art.
Do you realize how much time and effort it takes to create an art piece or animation?
Let's say, I am just naturally excellent at the violin, and with no effort at all, replaced someone's position in an orchestra.
Did I steal their money?
that also does not apply. if i go to a bakery, take a cake, and tell everyone i made it, who gets the credit, the baker, or me?
what art thieves are doing is re-posting somebody's art, or tracing over it.
if i walk into a bakery, take a cake, then put more frosting on it, did i make the cake?
Credit is irrelevant. Wanting credit is just selfish.
The baker gets the money, what more should he care?
Wanting credit IS NOT selfish. Are the people who have their names in movie credits selfish? No. It's the same with artists who want the person who used their art to simply write down their username in the Notes and Credits or leave a link to the original they made.
I know I don't want my art to go on unnoticed while someone else took it and are getting attention for it. I suggest you research about plagiarism.

Support for the reasons stated by @YubNubEwok in the number 1).
Also,I think this shouldn't be only for art,but for everything.

Wanting credits is 0.3% selfish. Would you be happy if someone copied your super-long project, pasted it and said “All work by me!”? I'm not completely sure. Even guidelines say:

Scratch guidelines wrote:

Share.
You are free to remix projects, ideas, images, or anything else you find on Scratch – and anyone can use anything that you share. Be sure to give credit when you remix.
I didn't invent nothing, you can read it there.

Wanting credit is absolutely NOT selfish. YOU were the one who put all the effort into making something beautiful, you're the one who DESERVES the credit. How would you feel if you spent 15 days making an amazing creation, and someone ripped it off in 10 seconds and got all the credit for it? Probably a bit angry, no?

Choosing not to give credit is a BLATANT show of disrespect towards the original creator. You use something made by them, you should at LEAST show that you appreciate the good that they've done for you by providing said thing.

Whoa whoa…
Wanting credit is NOT selfish in any way at all.
People need credit because that's what's fair. The person who made the art needs credit because it's THEIR work, not someone else's.

How would you feel if someone used a piece of art that you made and worked on for a REALLY long time and claimed it was their's? I would sure be upset.

Here are some suggestions I have to reduce the amount of art theft:
1) Tell Scratchers in the Community Guidelines to give credit always.
From experience and observation, this actually backfires a lot and usually ends up resulting in more of an argument wall, which creates more of a mess that the moderators need to clean up, and less time to get to other tickets (which incidentally may also be art theft content!).

Assuming the project in question is not a remix (be aware that the remix credit tag counts as automatic credit), then just straight up report and always make sure to include a link to the original content so the moderator can follow up properly!

2) The Scratch Team needs to be more aware, so they’ll crack down on the issue.
Oh, we're aware, but that's what the report buttons are for, so use them. But we can only do so much when the report says “this project has copied content” or “this project is taken from Google”. Moderators can get around may 500 to 600 tickets in a 12 hour timespan. Save us some time, make sure to include a link to the original content so the moderator can follow up properly. No proof, no crackdown.
