What were your childhood games?

Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles. I also grew up on Mario for a little bit, before realizing it's flaws, and then I stopped liking it.

As if Sonic doesn't have flaws…

Whatever, I'm not starting that debate here, I do like Sonic 2, to each their own

I guess Super Mario Galaxy counts because my dad rented it when I was in elementary school once and I bought it in the Sixth Grade.

I first played that game when I was very little (6 or 7 years old with a friend, I was 2nd player the entire time but it was still awesome to me), got it for my 10th birthday. I definitely liked it, but 2 is awesome

Seven or Eight-Year-Old me couldn't figure out how to beat the giant pink Piranha Plant (the regular enemy) in Good Egg Galaxy.
I didn't know you could jump on Piranha Plants to beat them in 3D Mario games back then.

It was okay, but I think Sonic Lost World took certain ideas from that game, and combined it with concepts from Sonic Xtreme, and added a nice unique spin on it all, making it the better game.

Oh I loved Super Princess Peach and Pokemon Silver! I have to say Super Princess Peach was probably my favourite game of all time when I was younger since it was the first I completed fully. Oh and super Mario bros, how could I forget ( but I always rely on my brother ) , sad no-one in my school cares about these games anymore 'cept my best friend ( I made her listen to a couple of video game soundtracks ).

What are Mario's flaws?

Also, I was obsessed with Animal Jam for like over 2 years until I moved onto Sonic. Was I born to be a gamer?

modern games are generally easy, old games are generally hard or kinda glitchy
(same goes for sonic tho)
(and basically every game series)

What were your childhood games?

My childhood was primarily centered on the Nintendo 64. In particular: Banjo-Kazooie (always been my favourite), Donkey Kong 64 (probably second-favourite), Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Snap! were frequent haunts of mine. We also had GoldenEye, South Park, Turok and Majora's Mask among other games I don't recall, but they weren't particularly interesting to me at the time. Once, I “borrowed” a Super Smash Bros. cart from one of my cousins. Translate: I kept it in our game collection for years. Very immoral in hindsight, but I thought it was awesome to have. We either gave it back to him or he didn't really care anymore and said we could keep it, I can't remember which.
I'm gonna do those front page questions on Banjo:
1. There was Banjo-Tooie, which I played a bit back then on an emulator. I wasn't sure what to think of it, but I revisited it again a couple of years ago and I thought it was very decent. I haven't touched it since, but I feel like it had the potential to be even better than the first one. There was also Grunty's Revenge on GBA, which I haven't played. Last of all, there's Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts which initially came off as a massive insult to the original games to me, but I've always been interested in trying it and seeing if it's as bad as I first thought. We have Rare Replay so I might boot it up on there.
2. Pretty much all the time.
3. I don't really play many video games in general nowadays, so it's been left there for a few years. I'd like to come back to it at some point though.
4. It was in the collection of N64 cartridges that my older brother had, as well as the others we owned.
5. My mum and my brother were just as involved in playing them as I was. It was always a blast.
6. A very fun 3D platformer filled with many worlds, elements and secrets to explore and a simple yet effective personality to boot. It rarely* fails to engage the player. Only complaint would be that the controls could be tricky sometimes, but I think that owes to the Nintendo 64's inherently weird controller. Based on what I remember, it's a 9 out of 10 (or a 10 out of 10 if you catch me on a good day). However, I could be looking back through rose-tinted glasses so I'm not going to go all in with that.
7. Yes.
8. I would recommend giving it a go. I would confidently say that it's a pretty difficult game to hate and I usually try to stay away from statements like that when it comes to taste and opinions.
9. I've low-key always wanted to make my own Banjo-Kazooie fangame that took the core of the original two and updated it for new hardware.
*no pun intended

Goodness why is everyone's on retro consoles, we aren't that old are we?

I've basically had a Wii since I was 3 but of course I did dabble into a few N64 games when I was 9 due to my oldest sister bringing it over for the summer (where I basically played Super Smash Bros. nonstop) but for me childhood game depends on the time period

7-8 years old: Go Vacation (as I've already shared) and Mariokart Wii were definitely my favorites

9 years old: Super Smash Bros., I still regret not playing that one last game with my best friend

10 years old: Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Kirby's 20th Anniversary, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party 9, you name it, I got a lot of great games during this time

11 years old: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, amazing game, I also first got into Virtual Console during this time but for 2 months straight that was my game all the time

12 years old: A bunch of Virtual Console games, Shovel Knight especially

13 years old: Breath of the Wild and Specter of Torment, I love both of these games to death
