"Scratch Around the World" forum sections should also have sub-forums, and more language forums.
???It takes a long time for translators to translate new messages, and then have the new messages reviewed and finally published onto the site. By the time an announcement was translated into all the languages Scratch currently supports, the next one would probably have come out already.Problem. I live in Hong Kong but use the English forums. You should have a choice of what forums to use.
However, I do occasionally wonder why English has all these subforums and the other languages don't, or vice versa. There's actually no need for that, you could instead have a separate copy of the forum software running for every language - so like the English forum would be scratch.mit.edu/discuss/en/… while the Chinese forum would be scratch.mit.edu/discuss/zh(-TW/-CN/-HK/…)/…Support. Otherwise, we end up with situations such as the one in the suggestions board. It's not even that hard to make new boards for different languages.Yeah, I think most forum software have an option to put sub forums inside of sub forums, so this would work.
I don't support requiring announcements to be translated before they are published. I think that people who care about the announcements will translate them for everyone else in their language. However, I do support the idea of making languages more uniform - i.e. instead of biasing towards English so much, treat all languages equally, English simply being the default language when no other languages are available.
All of that does have one problem, though - the forum moderators can't speak all languages. Lifay can speak German and English, Paddle, Harakou, and cheddargirl can only speak English (afaik). How would they moderate an entire forum identical in size and scale to the English forum, which already causes enough trouble, in a different language?
So actually, in general, no support - though I like the idea of equal treatment of all languages.
My suggestion is for a choice of forums.

Support! Scratch is supposed to be a community for everyone and it doesn't make sense that the non-english forum is so unorganized!Same. I am italian but I don't use the italian forum at all because of this (not just because most of italian users are kinda disinformed).

Does anyone else have any ideas? Bump!Support, the Norsk forum has not had any new tppics/posts since October 1st of last year, there should be Sub-Forums like:
Popular languages other than English around the world
Unpopular languages other than English around the world

However, I think you are mistaken. I am asking for non-English forums to have the sub-forums the English one has (like suggestions, questions about scratch etc)

That would be cool to have those, but they would probably not be popular, especially the part that:
The Norsk forum has not had any new tppics/posts since October 1st of last year.So that's why we might need what I explained about the unpopular/popular languages forums.

I think this would make it more popular because since it would be sorted, it would encourage more people to use those forums, as people would know where they needed to go to post something, instead of everything being a mess.Thank you!Oh, sorry for the mistake!

Yep! Support! The language forums are kinda a bit of a mess, and sorting them would help. The general discussion idea is also very useful, although I can see a few problems with the name and people thinking they can discuss random stuff there, maybe ‘old topics’? Also, how about the topic owner can move their topics themselves if they want to speed up the process.

Support but it might make the forums a bit more complex and might not be necessary for less “popular” langues whose forums aren't very active
