Journal and Pen Figurative Language Lesson!

Hello Everyone and WELCOME to my lesson on Figurative Language!
===============================================================================================================
So What Is Figurative Language?
Figurative Language is language that uses words and expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal Interpretation.When a writer uses literal interpretation they are just stating what the objects literally are.Figurative language, in comparison,uses exaggerations and alterations to meet a particular linguist point.Figurative Language is very common in poetry but is also widely used in nonfiction!
===============================================================================================================
What are The Types Of Figurative Language?
There are many DIFFERENT types of figurative language covering the use of a specific word title or meaning:
===============================================================================================================

Metaphor:a metaphor is a comparison between 2 things that are essentially NOT alike For example Fiona was a wet blanket so she was never invited to parties!

Simile:a similie is a direct comparison and often uses the word “like” or “as” Example: Julia runs like the wind

Personification:the name says it all does it not? Personification is giving a human quality to an object or thing Example The leaves danced in the wind

Hyperbole:a hyperbole is an exaggeration often in a humorous way Example her eyes widened at the sight of her mothers big fat bowl of chocolate ice cream

Onomatopoeia: using sounds to catch the audience’s attention this is commonly used at the start and end of books to show emphasis Example buzz Buzz went the bees (that one was bad XD I’m tired)

Irony:ever heard the word ironic? And that’s the only way I can really think of to explain it ( besides my example ) the ambulance rushed to Jessica’s house to take Jessica to the hospital after she broke her arm on the monkey bars only to run over Jessica’s leg!

I can think about 20 other uses of figurative language but you’ll have to wait until I finish my tutorial *does evil laugh* mwah ha ha ha ha! XD
