I believe you have to use one of the ones that you can also make in the forums, from the drop down section in the toolbox.

A select amount of emojis are available. They're usually achieved by typing it out on mobile, or copying and pasting.
Did you see if it was the correct type? There are an array of types out there depending on what and where exactly you're getting them from.

Let's all make new topics to test this! I believe you have to use one of the ones that you can also make in the forums, from the drop down section in the toolbox.
When I tried selecting an emoji it appeared in the post. Unless typing :) works the same, I don't know…
It also might be the type of emoji that isn't working

In comments on projects and profiles, you can create emojis like this:
_waffle_ , _meow_ , and _gobo_ . But there are lots more.
In the discuss forums, you can do emojis like this:
You should find a smiley face on the top of the place you are typing. Scroll your mouse over it and choose and emoji.

I solved the problem
You need to get the“Touch keyboard” and use the emojis there.
Although some of them won't work

It is not recommended to use “Unicode” emojis (the ones on your phone, tablet, “touch keyboard” etc) as some of them will mess up the forums. Use the Scratch emojis instead (although you can't use them in a title of a post)
