Scratch won't recognize the keyboard

Sometimes when I try to delete shapes while working in the vector editor, it doesn't actually delete. It only seems to happen after I duplicate a costume, and it doesn't start working unless I refresh the page.

EDIT: Upon further experimentation it actually seems that scratch will just stop letting me use my keyboard. I can't use any keyboard shortcuts, or type anything in the code or in the costumes. It's not a problem with the keyboard itself, since I can still type in other programs just fine. It seems to only happen when I duplicate something.

My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Firefox 57.0, Flash 27.0 (release 0)

Me too! Same problem! I can't type in the “Say _ for _ second” blocks or name any costumes or anything that has to do with the keyboard! But I can type in the comments and the “what I'm working on”, the “about me”, ect. Please help Scratch Team!

Upon even further investigation, it seems to just be caused by right clicking. Literally just right clicking somewhere in the Scratch editor. It doesn't even have to open a menu, just one right click and it stops recognizing the keyboard.

Not actually, you need to test your project in full screen by default, otherwise you need to click(left button) on Stage(inside the box player)

Ok, when I looked in my project, the right-click was working again, but I still can't type. So I'll update when I find more.

The same thing happens to me! What I do to fix it is I open a new tab, then type random letters/numbers in the new tab. After that I go back to Scratch and I can type normally. This problem is really annoying though.

I can't type in any blocks, costume names, backdrop names. So I can't name any costumes, sprites, or backgrounds.

All you that say sounds so strange… try zooming out the scripts' editor area.

Sounds really silly but i had this issue. I then clicked with my laptop mouse not my touch screen and it was recognised. Good Luck.

Check that your keyboard is connected and turned on.

I have this problem. It is not a problem with the keyboard. It works in another tab.

I can only get to type into costumes, code, etc. by opening a new tab, typing in the words/numbers needed, copying them, and then going back to scratch and pasting them.

Same here, I've not needed to copy/paste though. Any other alternatives to typing w/o the scratch editor in focus would be nice

It isn't browser based. I have this issue in both Firefox and Chrome. I can only fix it by open another tab or Notepad on my desktop and typing, then it works. I don't right click either, so that doesn't cause the issue for me. After some time it just seems to stop working! Please fix this! It could be the latest flash update…

It is. I'm playing on a laptop, so it always has been.

Please explain again? I didn't quite catch that.
