We are a team of people dedicated to making a original Pokemon game using Scratch. The game will include original Pokemon (more widely known as “Fakemon”) and original maps, all hand-crafted by our team. We have been going for about a year and a half, and are probably one of the longest, well-run collaborations on Scratch.

How do I join?

We are one of the few selective collaborations on scratch. Anyone may apply, but not all will be allowed to join. When joining, please provide a project that show cases you skills. Use this form:

Please note that no plagiarism will be accepted. If you are caught stealing someone else's work, you will be immediately removed from the collaboration. No credit will be given to you, and you will not be at all credited in the final project. This is the one and only warning you will receive.

Pokemon land and sea has become much more selective. Do not be offended if you are not able to be accepted. Also note, idea making is open to everyone without a project needed

When will this be done?

We don't know. We are making progress, but we don't have a set release date as of now

How much progress has been made?
In 1 and a half years, we've managed to complete parts of the art work, and have made a little bit of progress on programming.

What if I can't be active all the time?
We don't expect you to be. Most of the collaboration members are not able to fully operate during the school days. As long as you make a post once in a while (during the school year) and you are active during the summer, there will be no punishments.

How long does it take you to make sprites/maps, and what programs do you use?
Sprites and maps can take varied amounts of time depends on your skill level. Programs can vary from a simple Microsoft paint to GIMP

Who are you leaders?
Our original leader was Maxxdoss, but he has left the collaboration. The1Up took lead after maxdoss, and after him pokedirector. One pokedirector became inactive, the1up got leadership again, but decided he we was not active enough to lead the collaboration. Popopobob then took lead, but had to go inactive and handed leadership over to Kayybee. Kayybee handed leadership to Surfing Pikachu Games, who is the current leader.

Does every pokemon have to be original? How about every map?
We plan to make this an original pokemon game, so yes, all of them must be original. We use a method called ‘splicing’ were we take old pokemon's parts and create new ones out of them. Every map must be original as well.

Is there any position you are short on?
We always could use more help, but as of now there are no positions we are short on. If you take a look at the members list, you can see nearly every position has many people.

Can I use your sprites for my own game?
No. The sprites we make are meant for this collaboration only.

Why did I get denied? Why is there even selection?
We've had problems in the past with unexpierenced spriters making 5-6 very badly made sprites in one day. If you get denied, you are welcome to try as many times as you want and you can join as idea maker until you get accepted in to art or programming.

I'm quite offended that I wasn't given credit for being an inactive temporary leader

I think I can see where the Fakemon are starting to become less Pokemon-y and more… well, not Pokemon-y. Your designs seem to be a simple “electric bird” or “cloud warrior.” I can see no valid inspiration from these pokemon.

For the electric bird, I honestly can't see what kind of bird this is. With Hoothoot, it's an owl, with Tailow, it's a swallow, with Pidove, it's a pidgeon, with this bird, it's just a bird. Why not base it off a Finch? The yellow marking on the wing in this drawing seems suspiciously like a lightning bolt. What about some inspiration from the Peregrine Falcon, which dives at over 200 mph? (Electric types are known for being fast, dives and strikes the earth?) Cockatiels have awfully Pikachu-like cheeks, maybe we could get some inspiration from there? There's lots of inspiration for every topic, heck, for the Cumulance line, I've managed to turn it into a Tornadus-like Pokemon based off an Aztec God, Metztli, that holds a crescent-moon shaped scythe. If you're not sure on how to make some pokemon, look at other fakemon dexes, chances are they've done a design similar to yours.

Personally, I don't think all pokemon HAVE to be based off something. Could you please post your edits? I'd like to see them, so we could get an idea of what we need to work with. Try posting it on tinypic, or you can post it as a project.

In other news, I've emailed webs. I have no idea why they froze my site. Could it be because Pokemon already has a copyright?

I don't currently have a map. We should settle on more design elements, like where it's based off (Africa, I know, but where in it?) first, so I/we have an idea of what to do.

You don't need every pokemon to be based off the region, you'll only need a few. Last time I checked, Tyrantrum wasn't very French, and Infernape isn't very Japanese.

And if you guys are wondering where I was, I have golf practice after school til like four. It probably should end soon because I doubt I'll make the team. But right now, I'm on Spring Break, so I can do stuff.

I actually look in to this. Apparently, Nintendo has the game shut down because of copyright infringements

So now I have to ask you guys. Do you want to continue the project, fully aware of the risks that it may get taken down?
