Do You Think Scratch Will Last For The Next 15 years.

This is a question I have been wondering about for awhile. I love scratch and love coding and I hope this beautiful website will stay up for the next 15 years. I have been scratching for about 2 years and love it. It is a rich learning environment for children 8 and Up to explore. I hope scratch will keep up for the next 15 years.

It almost certainly will! Lots of people use it, and it has no reason to be taken down anytime soon.

I think it depends more on how everything else evolves than on how scratch evolves. We're in the technology age right now- I remember a time when pretty much everybody owned a vcr (half of our movies are still tapes) and I used cassetes more often than CDs growing up. That technology is pretty much forgotten now. We have a new standard.
Scratch is working to become mobile-device friendly, which is a good step- I doubt we'll have desktop computers for too much longer. The majority of the population has already switched to laptops.
I guess, my point is, I hope scratch stays around for a long while. But if we continue developing at this rate, it's not going to remain plausible for too much longer, and if it does stay around, it likely won't even be recognizable in 15-20 years or so. In 5,000 years, the internet may have advanced so much that the need for scratch will have been entirely eliminated.

That is a very good inquiration. What we meant by 5,000/10,000 years is that we love scratch so much we want it to last forever, even though that is not possible. Everything you said was right. You should keep on writing things because you seem very good at writing arguments against different topics.

Of course it will!
We may never know how long it will last. This time period keeps evolving and who knows? Maybe some time in the future we'll have Star Wars technology!
I just hope that Scratch will stay for a while…
Feel free to ignore what I'm about to say because it's a religious point of view.
Okay, okay. I'm a Christian and who knows? Maybe Jesus will come back to save us before Christmas! He could come and save us any time so there is no way to determine how long Scratch will last.

Hi YubNubEwok, I love star wars with my life. What you said was smart but Star Wars Episode lV took place in 1813. That would mean we are very behind. At first Episode 4 was a failure. None of the actors wanted to be there. The props were awful and falling apart. George Lucas fought through it and made the movie a legend. Scratch Might not last that long. NOBODY KNOWS. I also like Hunger Games too. I could go hours talking about it. I love Marvel too. I am also a Christian. PS. Did you see Star Wars the Last Jedi Yet.

Technology evolves quickly. For example, in 2006, the Nintendo Wii allowed players to move their bodies to play. Now in 2017, the Nintendo Switch allows you to play on either the TV or in your hands.

It depends on if Scratch can adapt to that quickly.

If you think that Scratch will last longer than the Egyptians, then think about the human society too. Apocalypses might happen.

WOW PrincessPandaLover, that was crazy. That blew my mind. Scratch might actually evolve over the next 15 years. You are exactly right.

Where did you find out that Star Wars took place in 1813?

Honestly, it's hard to say. 15 years? Probably. 5000 years? Probably not.

Technology evolves exponentially. Innovation keeps getting faster and faster. Maybe, Scratch could end up evolving into something very different from what it is now.

With the time of Han Solo and Chewie's arrival set in the year 1813, we need to establish when Solo and Chewbacca leave the Star Wars Universe. Solo's reference to children in Star Wars Tales #19 is interesting - it is either a tongue-in-cheek reference or a literal one.

Desktops are going to be around for quite a while. I don't own one but having one has many advantages, customization being the greatest.

Well, in the next 15 years, Scratch will update to fit in with things, such as 3.0 will NOT use Flash Player, and Flash Will reach the end of it's life in 2020.
