What will happen to Scratch if Net Neutrality is killed?

Alright. Let's come clean here. Net Neutrality is a really big deal. It's literally the freedom to browse the web! On December 14th, 2017, the FCC will vote to get rid of Net Neutrality - for good.

Not concerned yet? By killing off Net Neutrality, certain websites will be blocked by your ISP (Internet Service Provider - Where you get your WiFi), or even worse, Scratch may become gone - also, for good. That means either no more Scratch for the rest of your life, or you will need to pay for it. The same situation applies to every website in existence.

What the real question is, is what will happen to scratch if The FCC kills Net Neutrality?

Wow… 3 pages in ONE day. Net Neutrality is some SERIOUS business!

Not sure, Scratch could either end the site, although that seems unlikely. They could also pay-or have us pay so that we can access the site.

I highly doubt net neutrality will be killed. There have been so many people who have decided that it should stay, and it's raised such a high awareness as well.

Yep, exactly. A lot of people are advertising in their signatures.
Let's just keep our hopes high!

Yeah, I'm for Net Neutrality staying, but knowing the FCC, I'm no longer sure. I HOPE it stays, but it's all up to the FCC and Congress. At the time I signed the petition on change.org, there were around 1,293,383 people that had already signed it. With all the people that support Net Neutrality, and it's existence, and compile the ladder facts, I honestly don't know whether or not it will stay.

Will it? So far, today's the online protest. And really, it's all up to Congress.

The issue goes far deeper than “i see a lot of protests so obviously they wouldn't vote it out”.
While most of the American population prefers net neutrality to stay, the FCC is on a 3-2 stance against it, because telecom companies (ISPs) can pay them through “donations”. Congress members get paid $5,000 - $200,000 a year by telecom companies like Verizon, Comcast, AT&T, etc. to keep their opposing stance on net neutrality.
While this is technically an opinion (ooooh, CoNsPirAcY ThEoRiEs!), its pretty obvious that FCC is corrupt. They ignore the blatant and proven evidence that millions of anti net neutrality comments were forged, and disregard all the pro net neutrality ones.

Net Neutrality is most certainly going to die, but it doesn't mark the end of Scratch, or the internet. Scratch will still be here, you'll just have to pay more to access it. The internet will still be here, it will just be tough to access it. We can only hope your local ISP doesn't jack up prices (my condolences if you have Comcast).

My guess is that it will take a little while before ISPs start to jack up the price. They have to compete - if only one of them suddenly jacks up the price, they'll just lose customers (in places where there are other options, at least). So they'll have to all slowly bring it up. Hopefully it will take long enough that we can get fire Pai.

Plus, if they make us pay extra to visit competitors sites, ACLU and other organizations could potentially sue them for breaking the Sherman Antitrust act and monopolizing the industry, which would be a step towards bringing net neutrality back.

Or, you could just move to a country that has Net Neutrality/common sense.

I doubt OP is the one who manages where they get their internet from. Besides, in many places Xfinity is the only internet provider option.
