Wireless Presentation Pointer Input help

Hi, I want to control an offline project wirelessly.
I had reasoned that a presentation pointer that sends enter, tab, page up down would work in the way that a bluetooth mouse does.
My project is waiting for an “any” key press event to trigger the script but it just does not pick up the event.
Pointer works fine with wordpad.reporting all keypresses.
Any help much appreciated.

I suggest checking out this project by griffpatch - then adapting it.

Wireless Presentation Pointer Input help

TL : DR are wifi dongle inputs (like a power point presentation device) recognised by scratch?

Nice project, thank you. But I am not bothered by which key triggers the script only that it is triggered, so any key is ok.
I am assuming that the wifi dongle is handled in a different way to blue tooth (mouse or keyboard) which does have a nice range.

I want to be able to remotely trigger a script handling sound effects on stage for some stand up comedy.
For convenience I wanted to have that handled in scratch as I am also using a makey makey.

I may have to fall back to Bluetooth but I am concerned over its ability to drop out the connection.

So question is, are wifi dongle inputs (like a power point presentation) recognised by scratch?

It matters, but if it sends keys its probably compatible,
