Notification when someone backpacks something from your project
(Because this is getting annoying, read this post completely, and read the other posts as well before you post.)
I think that Scratch should have a feature where when another user backpacks or saves any asset to their computer from any of your projects, you get a notification in your messages.
This could help stop art theft and similar asset theft in its tracks, and let a user know when someone uses something from their project.
This would be an optional feature, so if you're getting too many messages, you can turn it off.
This would not replace the report button, it would simply notify you of when to report something.
Edit: You could also only be notified if someone shares a project with one of your assets in it, and you could choose what you get notified of people taking.

As long as the person gives credit, they can take ANY art, sounds or sprites that you've made. If they don't give credit report the project. But we don't know who's taken the art, sounds or scripts in the first place so how can we report them? This is why I like this suggestion. I support this being added.

Turn off internet. Save to computer.
And the message spam.
I also do not want other Scratchers to track my use of Scratch, unless they are following me and I love or favorite a project.

People will most likely give credit. Even then, it would just be kind of annoying, and would clutter up a lot of the message page. Imagine how annoying this would be if you were really popular, like griffpatch. No support.

It could be an optional feature, then. And as people have stated above, how can you report someone for stealing assets if you don't even know about it?

What about a toggle? This will make it so popular users don't get flooded with X backpacked X. There should be a single page for this and at the end of the day at about the same time studio messages come there is a "X people backpacked today see list with items on the list being “user backpacked asset name a/n asset type from project.”

No support:
1. If someone steals something from you without giving credit, there's a Report button for a reason.
2. This would be absolute torture for famous (or even moderately famous) people. Every time someone wants to get something, a message pops up. And for most people, something like this is barely a problem. To get messages over something that doesn't matter to someone is not exactly a good idea.
3. Isn't this invading someone's privacy? Taking something from a project would be a pre-release thing. Someone can tell what someone is making based on what they take from projects.
4. If someone is mean and wants to steal something from you without credit, they're not going to listen to you even if you say “Please don't use it”.
This suggestion doesn't seem very helpful, so no support.

Read the other posts.
For the first reason, you can't report them if you don't know they stole something in the first place.
Second, it could be an optional feature. You could turn it off if you wanted to.
Third, I don't see how this is a breach of privacy.
Fourth, with this feature, once you know they took it, you can report them if needed.
I'm not suggesting this to replace the report button, I'm suggesting it to make it easier to report stolen content.

No support - this would feel as though everyone's usage of Scratch was “watched” and even though the user has no intention to not give credit, they might still be uncomfortable they are being monitored in this way.

1, 2 and 4: If you want to use this, it still won't be as useful. If many people are backpacking stuff you made, going in to track what literally everyone who took stuff is doing until you find the thing you made is not something many people are going to actually take on. Trust me, that will be the only way to successfully use that message to see if the project they use.
3. If you see the project someone is taking a script from, you can tell that they are making something using the blocks in that project. People tend to want to “surprise” people with the projects they make, because, would you want someone to spoil the ending to your animation before you even release it? And if you say loving, favoriting, and commenting can all also see what someone is doing, do note that none of those 3 are actually necessary. Using scripts is something you might benefit from.

Then maybe you could choose what you would get notified of people taking? For instance, you could get notified if a sprite or costume was taken from a project, but not anything else, if you wanted to.

No Support. What if many users backpacked your stuff? The notifications will be spammed, especially is someone keeps on dragging the same script to their backpack. Besides, what's wrong with reporting whoever didn't give credit?

OH MY GOSH. READ THE OTHER POSTS.
Firstly, it's an optional feature, so you wouldn't be spammed.
Second, this wouldn't replace reporting something, it would help you know if someone didn't give credit, so that you could then report them.

No support since people will do this:
Okey, so someone backpacks a bunch of your sprites, spamming your messages, (READ THE WHOLE THING BEFORE BURNING MY HOUSE DOWN)
causing you to turn it off, and once you turn it off, bam, they take your stuff.
And also, if you see someone steal your sprites, there is always the good ol' report button.

No support based on the various reasons stated above, spamming and privacy being the two main ones.
Even if you don't care about people knowing what others are making (or you think it's so insignificant they'd never be able to connect the dots), having people get a notification every time you backpack something is kind of unnerving. I also don't really see what this would do to stop theft - people are going to still steal regardless.
