People in America though that Rad was a medicine, so there was something called Radithor.
“It consisted of triple distilled water containing at a minimum 1 microcurie (37 kBq) each of the radium 226 and 228 isotopes.” - Wikipedia
Eben Byers, a rich person was ill and in 1927 a fake doctor suggested him to take Radithor, soon he drank about 1400 bottles of it by 1930 when he stopped. He died of radium poisoning in 1932 and a lot of cancers, when he was buried he had no jaw, holes in his bones and had to be placed in a lead-lined coffin. After that, radioactive materials were banned around the world.
Also, his skeleton will be deadly radioactive for about 1500 years.
