ScratchU8, your idea is a valid idea!

With onion-skin, I would make my animations better, and people would love them! XD

You can do this by copying the costume, turning the lines gray (or another faded color), drawing over it, and finally erasing the gray lines by filling all blank areas with gray and then filling gray areas with transparent. However, that's pretty complicated.

Support. This would srsly be so useful for animations.

But can't you just flip back and forth between the last and the current costume you're creating? That's what I do. :P

This needs to be bumped, it's a bit down in there in the sea of suggestions and it is still a great thing to be added into scratch. Support!

Definite support, it would be very useful for animators.

I would love to see Onion Skin in Scratch. It would make animations easier and smoother. For those of you who don't know, Onion Skin is where you can see a translucent version of the costume you last selected. It'd be nice to be able to not blindly have to draw another costume hoping the part I'm redrawing doesn't look too choppy when in motion.
I support (and you can use FireAlpaca. In FireAlpaca there is onion skin mode.)

I support 100%! I know one scratcher said you could do it on your own, but I think that would be to difficult even though Scratch is made for coding, it would be easier to also make animations within our games. SUPPORT!

Clone the last costume you did as another costume, turn the outline red, then draw on top of it. That's how you create the onion skin. So easy to get around the issue. No support.

No support. There are easy work-arounds, and Scratch isn't a drawing program.

I can't really think of any easy work-arounds. Do you mind sharing the work-arounds that you know of?

Oh yeah, that's a great idea, especially when creating animations!

Yeah, I was making animations and found it hard to animate frame by frame when using bitmap (because personally I think its harder to use vector but that's just my opinion) I think Scratch should add onion skin even for people that are not animators. When making sprites in a video game, you might want to make one look like the other, so it would be helpful to use onion skin to use them without making them look the exact same. And for animators, it would make it easier if they don't have other platforms to animate on. And they want to animate on scratch and its hard. Scratch Team, could you please add this to Scratch? I think it would help a lot of people.

This would be useful, but how would it work? How would you enable/disable it?

Workaround: Duplicate the frame you're working on and edit it.

But what if you are working with bitmap? It would be easier to simply start all over again, and a reference would be helpful.
Plus, how would you know if you changed it too much, or not enough?

2 days later…
Oh, it's a duplicate!
