The word count.
Dear Scratch Team, there is a word count on everything, studios, profiles, and even comments. “Scratch has become a popular way to introduce coding to young people around the world. Yet many schools are just beginning to realize the potential of Scratch to support project-based learning across subject areas and grade levels” but it is becoming much more than that it is a safe place to do roleplays, the acting out of the part of a particular person or character, me and my best friend has found it as a place to let go and enjoy our time. But the one thing that is stopping us is word count. When I want to write more to tell someone something I don’t want to feel as if I’m spamming them but typing another message to them another good reason to get rid of the word count on the next update. Studios there are lots of them and when I need more room to type I’ll have to go and made a part two studio! That really makes me frustrated. The profile is the last thing, now one thing I lo
ve to do is tell others what I like and lots of other stuff but again the word count stops me, which makes it very hard to tell people about me. I would like you to remove the word count in your next update. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this.
Best,

But then what if someone uploads the Encyclopædia Britannica Oxford English Dictionary? Without a limit to the number of characters, it could crash the whole Scratch web server and then we would not be able to share our projects.Or post comments.

I agree to increasing it for profile pages. What about 2,000 for each section as if there was no limit people could make bots to make very long about mes, and take up server space. As for comments, maybe raise it to 700 or 1,000. However you can always end comments with a … or — then continue the next comment starting with … or — to let the other person know you are still typing a comment.

The 500-char limit on comments was set to reduce spam. My personal workaround is to end the comment at the last full word, and reply to that comment and continue with what I was typing. Maybe if the limit was 600…? Or 700…?
Support for more characters for About Me/WIWO. It's SOOO ANNOYING to not be able to type everything you want to say! The ST needs to raise the limit to something reasonable, like 1500!

Scratch used to not have a character limit. Before then, people would do things such as copy and paste an entire Wikipedia article into one comment. Not to mention that there could be a ton more of ASCII art without a character limit, and so many endless examples of spam.
Plus, what huge blocks of text could be dumped into the servers? Here comes even more “Uh oh, server troubles!”, and I'm pretty sure the servers can't handle that.

We shouldn't make the length infinite, due to servers. However, I think we should be expanding the limit for more posts.
Or you could just reply to your own post.

About Me And What I'm Working On Should Both Have The Same Limit As Comments.

I think they should increase it, like to 2,000. Imagine that there is so much characters that it crashes the website.
when next update comes :: events hat
set [word count v] to [2000]

I definitely think that the character count is quite unreasonable in comments, and definitely even more so in information sections on profiles. I would suggest 2000 characters and 500, respectively. I find myself, when I want to, write wiki rejection and approval messages, sticking to the old message because of the limits. I would love some overhead for myself! The character count for information boxes is suffocating, and it's also ridiculous. If I'm honest, I hate it! Hands in the air, it's a pain. I can't write what I want to write in my about me or my what I'm working on, yet my life is too full of colour to be limited.
However, on that note, I definitely disagree with it being removed entirely. That sort of stuff can then be abused! Databases have limits. Extremely long profiles and comments can cause lag!

This is rejected. I'm not going to edit the post to include the proper links, if you want them read the stickies like you are supposed to do.
6.2 Remove character limits on text fields
The character limit exists to prevent spam. If any character limits were removed entirely, spammers could use this to paste large blocks of text, effectively slowing down the website.
Simply raising the limits, however, is NOT rejected. You can discuss various character limits on the following topics: About Me and What I'm Working On, Project Comments, or Studio Descriptions.
