Self-Remixing

Howdy y'all!

So, I have many games that I have made over my 1+ years on Scratch. For some of these games, I am making sequels. It would be much easier to make these sequels if I could remix the original project that I made.

Therefore, me idea:

SELF REMIXING
  • Gives you the ability to remix your own projects
  • Can help you make sequels or “hacked” versions of your games (hacked versions might include extra powers, infinite money, etc.)
  • Reduces the amount of sprites, costumes, or scripts in backpacks

You might argue:
You can just backpack all of your sprites
Counter-argument:
Yes, you can backpack sprites.
However, self-remixing can:
  • Free backpack room and prevent clogged or over-full backpack
  • Save time by just pressing one button instead of dragging many sprites, costumes, or scripts into the backpack and then out of it
You may say:
You can just delete the sprites from the backpack once you drag them all out
However:
Yes, but self-remixing saves time and allows you to spend more time coding.

I hope that you seriously consider adding this feature, and thank you for reading this.

What you could do is download the project you want to remix to a file, make a project, and then upload the other project from the files to the new project.

Support, because however it's annoying to just keep on downloading and uploading, a single click is easy enough. Besides, it automatically gives credit when remixing, so you don't really need to type anything so there will be no complaints (you need to be nice for yourself, soo).

That method also doesn't show the new project you make as being a remix of the original one, it's just another standalone project.

…you know there's a “Save as a copy” button.
Plus, do you know how easy it would be for people to get Top Remixed with this?
No support.

You can self remix if you have two accounts. Just view this tutorial: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/165552313/!

I agree with this. If you want it to show as a remix, follow this:

But otherwise just copy it.

But then what other people could do is make another account, and then keep on remixing a project that they want to be top popular, so there is no way to prevent this.

Well, you could only self-remix each project once, and 1 remix does not make a project a Top Remixed project. Additionally, self-remixes would not be counted towards the Top Remixed area.

This is true, but it would be odd to have a separate account just for self-remixing. Additionally, you'd have to sign in and sign out many times. It would be more convenient to have self-remixing.

You don’t need self remixing when you can do it better ways.

There are many ways to make a project top remixed, even without self remixing allowed.

If we can't have self remixing just because we could have save as copy or do filing, then we should completely remove remixing and just remix projects this way and give credit.

Really, what is the point?

just download your project, then edit it, then, you're finished.

No support.

Or make an alternate account to make “hacked versions”.

Also, I don't really like the “it saves time” excuse. Not everything has to be done in 5 seconds.

No offense

I know, but what about other projects? You mean we can't have the content from other projects to our projects in less than 5 seconds? Or what? You could use the remixing workaround for other projects too.

Whoever made the project doesn't affect anything about remixing.

*sigh*, I said not EVERYTHING needs to be done in less then 5 seconds. I wish people would make a big deal about me not supporting a suggestion, no offense

I meant that not everything needs to be done quick. Faster is not always better. See? The key word is EVERYTHING.

I think you can already remix yourself, but you need to do hax

Well, that is true. However, in this case, faster is better. It allows you more time to code. What is bad about starting to code immediately? It does not lower the quality of your work.
