He means substituting an “i” with a “!” not completely censoring the symbol. He means like if the word “drink” was a bad word, people would try to get around it with “dr!nk.”

Uhh no. But you could just report something like that if you see it. Plus, an “i” and a “!” are completely different things. Probably should've thought about explaining that before posting.

…I know an i and a ! are different. But they resemble each other enough that you could easily get around “drink” being a censor by saying “dr!nk”.

The problem with simply reporting is that the message is still there for some time. It's easier to stop something before it comes than remove it after it's already there for people to see.
