All songs, lyrics, and demos belong to Probehæd, except in the case of covers

Now that the Scratch Forums are starting anew, and all the old forum topics have been dusted away into cyberspace oblivion, it was time to make a new forum topic for the band, Probehæd.

To those who never heard of us until now, I'll give you a little present summary. We're a multi-continental alternative rock band that formed in April 2013, and hail from various countries (US, UK, Australia), and have an even more diverse range on influences. These go from Nirvana to Pink Floyd to Blur to Justice to U2 to Radiohead, and especially, the Beatles.

As of May 2013, we're currently working on our first album, and we've finished a couple songs by now. There may not be much place left in the roster below, but you can still post how you may want to help and I'll see if I can arrange room for you somehow.

Hopefuly this works. I'm really grateful to the scratch team for letting me back on after I was so disrespectful there's probably a mod checking this, (probably always is) so I'll take the opportunity to say nice new site, it has everything you'd want that the old site didn't. It isn't just new pointless luxuries like other sites and softwares have when they upgrade.

Anyway.
I'm saving up. There are two things I could get. I'm asking all my musicky friends this question. Out of FL Studio 11 and a basic cheap midi keyboard, or a full polyphonic real synthesizer, which is better to get?

And on topic. If the scratch team reads that I'm still trying songwriting every now and again, they'll probably ban me straight off. Except instead of frankie for inspiration, I use the blues brothers and glaze/woodentoaster and mlp to get my inspiration. Yes, I'm going sub-brony. Dont ban me for attempting songwriting again scratch team! I'm clean of all that stuff. I learnt my lesson and all that.
Now. A41. Anything useful I can do?

Yeah, I really like the new site, too. A lot easier to navigate, awesome new features, and it just all-around looks cool.

I would probably get the polyphonic synthesizer, because I think it would be a bit more useful when it comes to creating awesome-sounding music. I have one myself, and I find that it's not only fun to use, but noodling around on it can sometimes result in some pretty cool creations, and there's a lot of different sounds to discover.

Also, since you seem not to be quite into writing lyrics right now, would you be up to writing the music for ‘Policy Concept’? AwesomeStar wrote the lyrics, and I tried writing some music to it, but the result was pretty rubbish, I think. If you're up to it, I'll upload the lyrics.

Ok cool. Also my influences would be Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and Nirvana. I've only listened to Green Day 3 times in my whole life.

Do you want a backing to build on or the full thing? I might not be able to manage a completely full thing , built up in it's full entirety, but something useful to be added to, definitely, just do you want to add a little or a lot?

Well, add as much to the song as you can. I'll post up the lyrics on Monday.

The synthesizer I have is a Yamaha MOX8. It cost me about $2,000, or about £1302 in the UK. That's obviously a bit pricey, but there are some older models (Yamaha MOX7, MOX6, etc.) that are just as effective and cost only about $700, or £456.

Wow that's an expensive synthesizer, we have a Yamaha digital piano though I don't have access to it right now.

I've wrote another song, and I'll record a demo soon, it's a real rocker!

Great, I can't wait to hear it.

And yeah, the synth is really expensive, but it has a lot of features - you could have it for 5 years and you probably wouldn't have discovered every feature by then. It's extremely professional and useful.

By the way, how is mixing going?

Meanwhile, I posted the guitar and drums to Don't Wake Me Up already - I'll post the lyrics/chords sometime in the week.

I'm brainstormig ideas for policy concepts. I've come up with a cool keyboard part (probably already forgotten. I'll check next time I can use a keyboard) and an awesome guitar part/bass line (it'd do for both) inspired by heitor villa-lobos' second prelude. Anyway. I need those lyrics nposted here.
Btw I have a new laptop (windows 8, 8GB RAM, dedicated graphics, 64bit) that works and everything!
Also, if you want to, I can make amvs for any of our songs when they get finished (partly because of this new laptop)
but first I need those lyrics.

Sorry I didn't get to reply much today. Spent most of the day listening to music with my dad.

First things first, I like “Scuba Diver” a lot. I might have to say it's your best composition yet (that's saying something). It has great single potential - I'll add some punky drums to it and it will sound awesome. Is there anything else you want me to add to it?

I'll get into mixing don't wake me up, and I can sing it too if you prefer.

I think I'll do something weird with these vocals. I might record them, i might leave it to one of you, but I have ideas.
They should be weird, interesting, cool (in my opinion), new and effective. I'm thinking of doing them spoken, harsh evil sounding whispers, possibly with audacity's paulstretch in there. It should work oddly nicely.
