Why is this considered "too personal"?

Take a look at my signature.. you can see that my birthday is gone, right? It wasn't removed by me, it was removed by the ST. That's because 20 minutes ago I got an alert notifying me that it was removed.
Well, yeah, I know. I shouldn't really share my alerts publicly. But I'm wondering why this was removed? I only shared the month and day. I don't see anything really wrong with sharing that much of your birthday considering I'm certain that there are millions of people who have that same month/day as their birthday, not to mention that I didn't even intend it to be sharing personal info, just as a way for users to know when they can say “Happy birthday”, do a birthday gift, etc.
Sorry if I sounded “ranty”, I'm not mad, just a little confused as to why sharing the month/day of your birthday is “too personal”..?

TL;DR Why is it considered “Too personal” to share the month and day of your birthday?

Because you also share your age. I've heard from others that you're allowed to share your birthday but not the year.

If hundreds of people decided to duct tape themselves to a barrel and roll down a hill, would you do it?
Just because a lot of people do something doesn't necessarily mean that it's a good idea.

Right, and it's best not to share both your birthday and year.

I just have to say it. That sounds fun, and it is a case where I would do what everyone else is doing
as you wiiiiiiiiiish!

Also (on a slightly less crazy note), nowhere (that I'm aware of) does it state that you can't reveal your age on Scratch. I checked the guidelines, nothing about age. So according to Scratch, it isn't too personal. But Scratch says it's too personal. And I am even more confused as to why it happened. I'd say use contact us, but you probably won't get an answer. Maybe try going directly to a ScratchTeam member and ask them about it?

I would recommend using the Contact Us form since it looks like you're discussing a Scratch Team action.
