Importing Vectors

Is it possible to make vector art in a program like Adobe Illustrator and import them into scratch as sprites or costumes? If so, what file format should I use?

What about when you go to export it though? Or is there not an export option, and the only option is to save?

That's probably correct. However, you don't want to save it, you want to export it.
