usernames longer than 20 letters

hi! i was hoping to make a new profile called: square peg in round hole studios, but it tells me that i cant

is there a way to let me do that? i realy hope so.. thanks!

Well…

You can always use an acronym, like SP-in-RH Studios…

Anyways the reason it's there is so spambots don't make usernames that take up a lot of space. For example, I quickly created a bit of a mock-up of what a comment could look like:

As you can see, you can't even see the comment text in my *cropped* screenshot (it was only cropped of the nav bar, sides, and task bar) and you can only see the username. That would make it quite easy to spam.

[sidenote]The username I made wouldn't even be allowed, because it has “Kaj” in it

I mean technically there isn't a thing as “necroposting” in suggestions so this is allowed (I think)

If usernames longer than 20 characters were allowed, then there would have to be some kind of limit, because otherwise it could lead to thousand character long spam usernames as @AonymousGuy mentioned above. I also don't really see the need for usernames longer than 20 characters because the number of usernames that can be created with 20 characters is already massive and it seems unnecessary to add more characters.

Let's say we increase the limit to 30 from the current limit of 20. (Why did none of you suggest a limit???)

Since Scratch doesn't abbreviate names, check this 20 char long account:MMWMMWMMWMMWMMWMMWMM
Yeah, it's overlapping.
Now make a normal username that's 30 characters.
That will probably overlap too!

I see adding more characters in like 2030 when Scratch gets a boatload of more users, but right now that doesn't really seem necessary

Well, there's definitely less because already taken users and the filter, but there's still a lot.
