Too many RPs!
Sounds good. RPs don't have to do much with collaboration except for that they need other people.

support. Please back this up with some level of reasoning (again) the ST doesn't decide things based on number of supports, they decide based on good arguments

I don't support this as it's perfectly acceptable in one of the current subforums, no need to give a special priority to it.

I don't support this as it's perfectly acceptable in one of the current subforums, no need to give a special priority to it.That's not the suggestion, the original suggestion being to remove them from the collaboration section, and put them say, in Show & Tell, or just remove them. Besides, they flood out the collab section so I found it very difficult to start off my collab.

I completely understand this problem (I think) and they belong in Collab and Show 'n Tell, so, making a page for RPs is PERFECT

Support. Roleplays aren't collaboration. Just use a Studio for Roleplaying. I don't get why people roleplay in the collaboration forum.

Okay, I've been in many RPs, and yes there are a lot circulating. However, the only reason they plague the front page is because by nature they are so active. However, the number of running RPs at the moment are actually still vastly smaller than normal collaborations.
I think honestly there should just be tags for the forums - so RPs could be tagged as RPs, suggestions could be sorted by where they were going to affect (editor, site, forum, etc.), shops could be categorized for what they do, and so on. It'd be the best solution.

Interestingly, this actually used to exist. The TBGs forum was closed on March 1, 2013, just before the switch to Scratch 2.0. It contained a section for text-based games and also roleplaying. They aren't really advertising a studio, however, and noone reads show and tell. The threads associated with them are for organization of a role-playing group and for organizing RP-related activities and projects.
I can't actually find the reason why they were closed, but I'm assuming that if the ST removed them once, they'd probably not want to bring them back. That being said, it definitely doesn't seem like an improvement RPs are instead using the collaborations forum.
In summary, I agree they shouldn't be in the collaborations forum, but I don't think I necessarily support a RP-section. I'd be interested to hear why the TBGs were closed in the first place.
EDIT: By the looks of things, the RPing seems to take place in studios, not on the forums. In that case, I think I'd support moving the RPs' topics to Show & Tell, as they seem to be, essentially, advertising a studio.
