Adding LAYERS and ONION SKIN

No support. These are way too specific. Also, as far as I can tell, you can replace Onion skin with the ghost effect?? I don't really get that one.
No, not in the costume editor. Then you'd need every costume to be a different sprite.

We definitely need onion skin mode if there's a section for animating in explore.

Adding LAYERS and ONION SKIN

I think I can explain onion skinning (The offical term) better.

Onion skinning in the traditional sense is using onion skin paper (not made with real onions) as a guide of the previous frame due to the transparency of the paper.

Onion skinning on computer is the slightly different. When enabled, the program shows a transparent version of the previous frame (or more if you want) so you can use it as a guide of the current frame. Onion skinning does not effect the previous frames. Just the current frame you are drawing.

Adding LAYERS and ONION SKIN

We need onion skin no question. Layers would be nice but for something like scratch, that might stress this simple program out to much. Maybe it will more efficient for it in 3.0…who knows.

Onion skin, that's a Scratch website theme. I think you are suggesting that and layers.

Onion Skin means you can show a transparent-ish version of the previous frame (or in this case costume) when drawing the next costume. It's very useful for animators.

Full support!

Uhhh… Whats Onion Skin?
Onion skin is an animating tool that when you're drawing a costume it shows the previous costume.

No support. Onion can be easy workaroundable using the “duplicate” option when right clicking on a costume.
And layers are in the vector costume editor.

Duplicate the last costume, change the colour of it, then draw over it.

Maybe you could use costume editor tools in the stage window and it would change (or edit) the costume that is currently selected. Support if a good way to add onion skins is found. Making animation easier will give us more high-quality projects.

You could make different sprites to be different layers. Each sprite can easily show or hide when you need to change things in the animation, like a scene change.

Definitely. Onion skin would also work for not only animations, but speed draws. And for those of you who say that scratch is not an animating sight, the 2nd and 3rd most followed scratchers are both animators. If you follow this logic, scratch is not a gaming sight either. Or an art sight. Or a tutorial sight. It's a CODING sight. Coding is what makes up everything. See this post right now??? It's coding. When you see the animation that your favorite scratcher made, that is coding. Anything on an electronic, device, or machine USES CODING.

While this is true, Citykat wants Adjustment Layers, we already have regular layers. I've used Adjustment Layers, and they are lifesavers.

Adding LAYERS and ONION SKIN

Onionskin is an animation term in which the animator draws over a translucent copy of the previous frame. It's very useful.

Support for onion skin, since that would be extremely helpful. I use a similar technique (duplicating the lineart of the previous frame, turning the lines red, and then draw black lines over it), but this would reduce the workload.
