Did I say that?

No. Did you imply it? Yes. Frankly, I find emojis to be a rather childish way of expressing yourself, and I wouldn't mind if they were all removed. But if your only reason for removing the angry emoji is that it's not socially acceptable to have negative emotions, that's ridiculous.
Saying I implied it is the same as reading between the lines which only works 50% of the time. It looks like it didn't work this time though.

Nice defense, I like the part where you completely ignored like three quarters of my argument.

OK! This argument is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. Whatever jji10 implied or did not imply on his original post, they have clearly explained they did not mean to.

In one of the most passive-aggressive, roundabout ways I've ever seen, yes I suppose they did.

My main point is that the mad emoji shouldn't be banned just because it's not representing a positive emotion. Sometimes it's okay to be angry or sad or whatever, and as long as people are reminded to use them in a relatively constructive manner and not to capslock spam, I don't see why it has to be removed.

If you read the OP you'll notice that I'm not saying that only positive emojis should be allowed. I'm saying the mad emoji is misused frequently and in fact the vast majority of its usage is inappropriate. The pain and hate it is causing outweighs its usefulness.

Support. 99.9% of posts that use the emoticon in a way that isn't insulting would be fine without the emoticon.
This can be said about almost any other emoticon, though. (Except for smiley.)

Not sure why anyone would need to express their anger on the forums (in a way in accordance with the Community Guidelines), and even if they did, they could just use >:( or something similar instead of having a bright small picture doing it for them
This could be done with other emoticons, and by saying this, you're kind of saying the same about many other smiley-related emojis/emoticons.

Anyways, from reading the first post, to the 65th post, I've maintained my stance on this. Madness can be displayed as frustration or hatred, meant towards a person, or a thing. Saying that the “Mad” emoticon won't contribute to discussions and can be substituted otherwise, is really saying that all emoticons can be substituted otherwise.

Emoticons are a nice touch to the forums and comments, and having a mad one is too.

Of course, if it's used to belittle someone or in a disrespectful way, it's not nice. Just report it.

On the other hand, using it to show frustration at a project or something is perfectly fine.

(TL;DR: Use it appropriately and no support for the removal of this emoticon.)

Removing a Mad emoji because it's being misused it like forbidding capital letters because it's been misused such as arguments and spamming.

Many websites that have rules that mention not bullying or hate comments have this angry emoji, right?

Otherwise, if this feature was necessary, then the other websites should do it.

(please don't complain that you don't care about the other websites and that the Scratch Team doesn't care either because they aren't part of it. We are all part of the Internet and we all make choices.)

Besides, if the emoji was removed, it might cause flame wars and rebellion, like how the removal of the Discuss button triggered more than millions of Scratchers who didn't like the update. People will argue that the Scratch Team didn't understand and stuff.

I might as well not respond to this thread anymore, there is too much minor flame wars, so don't expect a reply from me if you respond to this.

To be fair, use of repeated capital letters is banned in many forums and chats.

That's what they said.

Chats dislike ALL CAPS, but they allow properly capitalized sentences. Removing emoticons because of a potential misuse is like banning capitalized letters in all forms.

I will not be hurt by a simple

In fact, I usually find it slightly funny that the other person - 99% a kid - is so triggered just because I don't agree with him/her*.

*i would write “him” which is grammatically correct but someone would criticise me

The emoji is often used to emphasise stupid mistakes made by other people example:

I would never do something like that
Just because it can be used for this reason, doesn't mean it should be banned.
Same with the emoji.
Just because it can be used disrepectfully doesn't mean it should be banned.
If it's being used disrepectfully, report it. Simple as that.
Any word can be disrespectful when used in the right way, does that mean all word-based communication should be banned? No.
It just means when words are used disrespectfully, you report them.

Yeah. I believe this should be a rejected suggestion with this explanation:

Removing Negative Emojis
Many users have suggested this because it can be misused and could be used for threatening. However, not all negative emojis are used to show bad expression. Besides, anything, including words, could be used poorly. But does that mean we have to remove word communication because we are using it wrong, just like negative emojis? No. If you see anyone using these emojis very negatively (which includes other contents they type in their post, if it's bad), just report them.

(Do not attack me for this. This is MY opinion. If you think it shouldn't be rejected, just don't argue.)

I have never said that the should be removed because there is NO way it can be used properly. I HAVE said the vast majority of its use is inappropriate.
