Would Rickrolls be violations of the 'Don't Trick the Community' section of the Guidelines?

I'd say that you can only do it when the timing is appropriate. For example…

Would not be considered appropriate and constructive. Doing it in a project may be okay.

However, keep in mind that the internet is a place where many people don't take things too soundly. Make sure the prank is appropriate for all ages, and there is no way it can be taken as a malicious threat to prevent any trouble from occurring.

Rickrolls are just for fun and laughs, so I'll say they are allowed.

But I think a ST member said something about this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

Here's my opinion. People who prank are stupid, insensitive people. I remember when I was a boy another boy clapped his hands over my ears and laughed at the sudden pain I experienced. He could easily have permanently damaged my hearing. Very funny.

I like to rickroll people, and since rickrolls, count as pranks, are you calling me stupid? (starts crying)

No offense, but really, think about what you say,

If stupidity includes a lack of awareness of the effect of one's actions on others, then yes, if you are a frequent pranker, then you are stupid. Now an occasional (very occasional) prank might be alright, and keep you intelligent, but planting rickrolls everywhere is the work of a stupid troll.

Rickrolls have been around so long that it is a very tired, very old, very stale joke. Sure some kid discovering rickrolls for the first time gets all excited about it, but it's about as clever as putting a thumbtack on your schoolmate's chair.

Yeah, no need for that kind of language. The word you want is one you already used: “insensitive” or, perhaps “unempathetic”.

Anyway, to answer the question, yes, Rickrolls are mildly deceptive and are against the Community Guidelines. It might be overlooked on April Fools day, however
