Is there some way to import videos into Scratch?

Not exactly. However, if you could make the video into a gif and a mp3, you could upload the two seperatly and recombine them. Not sure if any such tool to split a video exists, however.

Yes, most video editor software can split sound and video apart. Many video editors can also output the needed animated GIF file.
Photoshop can convert a video to an animated GIF.

Free software i use to create this sort of projects:
VLC mediaplayer to extract audio and video frames, Xnview to edit the frames, UnFREEz v2.1 to create the animated GIF and, of course Scratch Editor.

…I think that's like way too many tools. I did some research after I posted this and found that you really only need one tool.

I don't think so, i'm not gonna pay for a software like Photoshop when i can get it working with free software or online tools.
Try to replicate https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/165472091/ with Photoshop only, it will take the same effort than using the apps i used in case you suceed..

Edit: What tool you said?

…what? What are you talking about “paying for photoshop?” Just google “Video to GIF” or “Video to MP3.”

I'm not spending 5 minutes loading that 7.8k asset project.

Wow! 8000 costumes in one sprite. That has to be a record of some kind.

I forgot to time it. Do you know how long it takes to play?

Hi @footsocktoe, The time is nearl to the sound time, sadly Scratch dropped a few of frames(they were supposed to be 7946) so the sound and images run not too much synchronized. I think that scratch mess those frames because they were equals ones each the others. (sorry for bad spelling)
Regards.

I forgot about the sound time! 5min 20sec
That means it was a direct capture of the 24fps movie footage.

Here is something interesting about movie cartoons. They were often made at 12fps and then the frames were doubled to make movie footage at 24fps. So you can drop half the frames on a movie cartoon with no change in the animation quality. In other words, 4000 frames would look just like 8000 frames. Of course, you have to double the frame time when you half the frame rate.

The secret to good sync on Scratch is to break your video and sound into smaller parts.

I don't know if you are planning to do any more projects like this one, but if you had used both my suggestions on this one, then you might have done it like this…

Reduce frames to 4000 and then break it into 4 parts so that you have four 1000 frame GIFs and four sound files. That would give much better sound sync.

The more parts you break it into, the better the sync becomes.

I'm pretty sure you set the record for most costumes in a sprite.

if you want to upload a gif, you need to convert the video into a gif and for that you need to convert the video into a mp4 and then into a gif.

Whenever I upload gifs, The costumes get messed up. Is there a way to fix this? Is this a new bug? Before when my friend started to scratch, There wasn't a glitch from the costumes.
