Please help test v195 of the flash player!
Please help test the new player Scratch project player, so we know it will work well when we push it to the old site! If all seems well by Thursday morning, we'll push update the old site player with this code.
We didn't push last week's version, because it got updated during the test period. From now on, we won't push updates to the alpha site between Monday and Thursday, so we have a couple of days to test before pushing the player to the old Scratch site.
How to test? That's easy!
1. Try out a bunch of your favorite projects, or any project you'd like. Look for strange behavior or new problems, and report them here!
2. If you don't find strange behavior, post here to let us know everything looks a ok. Please mention how many projects you tested that worked a ok. (That'll help us get a sense of how confident we can be before pushing the new player to the old website production.)
This kind of help from the community frees us up to focus on getting 2.0 out the door. So thanks very much in advance!
-Amos
p.s. The last test thread was here: http://alpha.scratch.mit.edu/forums/topic/394/
Changes:
This version cleans up some of the logic that automatically saves projects if you navigate away from the editor, moves Untitled projects to the trash, and warns you if you need to save or remix. Let me know if you notice any problems with this code.
Other changes:
- list blocks should show a list name by default
- make the help tool report “scratchUI” or “paint” when clicked on the UI
- hide stage resize handle in player mode
- make separate blocks for show/hide variables and lists
- tweak media item number positions
- changes tip bar JavaScript to support help on blocks (added entry for “move” block as example)
- bug: click and hold on block in scripts area makes it jump to top left
- bug: allow adding reporters to “switch backdrop to _”
- bug: allow numbers in “switch backdrop to _”
- close tips window when the login menu is clicked and move menu to avoid overlap
- bug: edited SVG costume not loading properly (bad offsets)
- bug: exported SVG costume has incorrect width/height

Not sure if this an old bug that's still in progress of getting fixed, but I noticed that speech bubble text seems to get cut off when in full screen mode (in regular size, the speech bubbles show up fine).
http://alpha.scratch.mit.edu/projects/970160/#player - As the intro to the tutorial goes, the figure sprite says “Press the right arrow key to begin”. In fullscreen mode, the text just reduces to “press the right”. Here's a screenshot:

Aw, crud. One of my projects I was using to test out the paint editor is now empty. The blank project bug has struck again!

The empty project page bug on Safari cropped up again. It was working on Mountain Lion before I heard of this update.

there appear to be 2 instances of “show list” and “hide list” in the blocks frame.

you also solved the problem with paddle2see's kayak project where the vector image was rendering improperly when you went to edit the costume.

Cheddar - thanks for posting about that one! I think I'd seen it earlier, but it's still good to be reminded. If that's not already in the tracker, can you put it in there?
re: Empty project glitch. Good to know it has resurfaced!
Can those who have already reported also mention how many projects they've tested that've worked properly? Of course it's useful to get info about bugs with the editor in this thread, but the main goal is to see how confident we can be in the player's performance, so we can push it to the old (current) website.

This is probably a result of this bug reported earlier, and you are only just now seeing it. Or at least I hope so. Can you try following the instructions on that post to repair it, and then let us know if you see it again?

I have tested my following projects:
Chess - at least half a game
Crazy8s - at least one full hand
Super Mario Bros. - all the way to the end
Forum Tower Defense - first level
Adventure - a couple of commands
El Dorado Pinball - at least 1 ball played
Hangman - several words/phrases
and
Bath Time - at least 1 level
Everything looks good in the player. I have not looked at the editor at all–no time this week.

re: Empty project glitch. Good to know it has resurfaced!Yep. I wonder if caused it myself (or made it worse) by clicking on the “see inside” button when it didn't seem like it was loading properly.

I have yet to fool around with the editor.

Great! Thanks to cheddargirl, Boltbait, Hardmath123, and Wes64 for testing so far!
If anyone else would like to try some old projects before we push this player to the old site tomorrow, please go for it, and let us know how it goes!

I tried my raycaster, my paint editor, the dragon curve program and my wireframe system. All worked, but interestingly felt slower in both loading and playing. Maybe it's the player, maybe it's the new OS I got, or maybe it's just been a tough day at school, but I did feel a difference.

Hmm, concerning - but good to know. Thanks!
