Importing images without bitmap effect

Hey there, I am working on a project and I was trying to import an image put every time I try it the image looks like its bitmap and slightly pixelated even when I have it in vector mode. I see other scratchers with images in their project and their images are smooth just they should be.
Advice on what to do would be highly appreciated!
Thanks,

To import a vector you need to use the SVG file format. is that what you are using?

You can import a high quality bitmap image by
1. downloading the project
2. changing the file extension to .zip
3. replacing the image that is the low quality image with your higher quality one (be sure to keep the same name as in the .zip file)
4. changing the file extension back to .sb2
5. uploading again

You can't view the image in the image editor, otherwise it will pixelate. You'll have to manually resize it with the block. It's a tedious process, so if you plan on putting in multiple high quality images, it'd just be easier to use the offline editor.
I can't find any project examples, but I've used this method several times to get high quality thumbnails.

Is the original image an SVG file? Or was it a PNG that you tried to convert to SVG?

No. PNG is a bit map format. SVG is a vector format. If you import a PNG file into the Scratch vector editor, it just becomes a bitmap embedded in a vector file.

The Scratch stage is 480x360, so resize your PNG to that first to see what it will look like in Scratch.

You can resize it in Microsoft Paint or Photoshop or GIMP or almost any image editor.

This is a really old topic, so I don't thin anybody who originally posted here even remembers this. In the future, please don't post on really old topics, because it then necessarily bumps the topic back up to the top of the list. If you have a question, please create a new topic.

Most images, like ones on Google, are either JPG, JPEG, or PNG images. But you need to get a (vector) SVG image. It is also “impossible” to convert one of those images to a SVG because once an image is bitmap, it stays bitmap, even if you “convert it to vector”.
