Dark Forest trainees who die there become evil even if they weren't before; and had they died anywhere else would have gone to StarClan.
StarClan is really just a bunch of cats receiving and passing on messages from a higher power, walk in cats' dreams and watch living cats and bring them to StarClan… but Jayfeather has the power to do everything they can and more, so they're afraid of him.
