Browser Usage of Scratchers?
Note: This topic is borderline AT-worthy. ST, feel free to move it.
With the introduction of the CSS Grid, I'm starting to get curious about browser support and how many old browsers a website should be functional on. I'd love to see browser usage statistics for websites like Scratch, to see what should and should not be supported. If anyone has a website with analytics, particularly with a target market similar to Scratch's, I'd love to see which browsers are being used frequently. (Alternatively, if the ST is willing to share, that'd be wonderful. )

As of 16 Sep 2015, the ST support IE9 and up:
But our question is really about statistics: what people use, not what Scratch supports. Have you searched the scratch-www GitHub? There might be a comment there with some stats in
our minimum browser support for the Scratch website is here: https://scratch.mit.edu/info/faq/#requirements. So to answer your question we recently dropped support for IE 8, and now only support IE 9 or above.I don't know what scratch-www supports.

I'd offer to grep the logs of a medium-profile site I administrate, although its audience has a *strong* bent, due to its subject matter.

Very silly and unscientific way to get some results: Just horribly abuse Google search!
Obviously biased towards people who are having technical problems (because of the main use case of the globe button) and the first page of results is just “Share your OS lolol” threads. But it's something?

Just horribly abuse Google search!Hah, that's actually quite clever. If I had the time, I'd write a web scraper to collect the data. Very silly and unscientific way to get some results:

Scratch still works on unsupported browsers; it just isn't supported.
I used Scratch on the version of Safari that ships with Lion for a while, while it wasn't supported it was fully functional and I had no problems. Basically, all you need is flash (which I can't seem to get working on my Lemonade web browser).

“Not supported” basically means that if someone complains that “omg this site isn't working on my internet explorer 5 for mac!!!”, they won't be bothered to fix it. Scratch still works on unsupported browsers; it just isn't supported.

I tried to access the Scratch website using IE5 on Windows 3.11 (on a real PC, not a VM). Unfortunately, it doesn't support TLS.“Not supported” basically means that if someone complains that “omg this site isn't working on my internet explorer 5 for mac!!!”, they won't be bothered to fix it. If anyone has a website with analytics, particularly with a target market similar to Scratch's, I'd love to see which browsers are being used frequently.
These are the most used browsers from the site http://scratch-dach.info/ (the German Scratch Wiki with almost 600 articles and 9500 visitors per month):
1. Chrome 35.99%
2. Firefox 32.36%
3. Safari 12.45%
4. Internet Explorer 10.73%
5. Edge 5.83%
6. Opera 1.08%
7. Android Browser 0.60%
8. Android Webview 0.52%
9. Amazon Silk 0.20%

Addendum: We have to consider that the DACH Wiki visitors are typically German speakers, so most of them are from Germany.
When we compare the browser distribution to Germany and the World, we can see that

When we compare the browser distribution to Germany and the World, we can see that
- Germans are Firefox fans, while the World prefers Chrome. I would expect much more Chrome users on an international site like scratch.mit.edu
- Scratchers use Safari more often than the average user
- we have almost as many IE users than in average Germany, 10% (I expected much less IE users to be honest)
