I agree with the theory that Toby originally intended for Gaster to be a proper character (possibly a relative of the skelebros), but then stopped working on it and just left what was there to see what people would make of it. Now he just sits back and enjoys all the theories people come up with XD

This is probably true.

Toby Fox is a very sly-fox. Despite what Toby says, I think he'll make a sequel to finish off all the mysteries and stuff he left off. If he does make a sequel, I bet my left pinkie toe he will reveal more about Gaster, maybe even put in a big side-quest related to Gaster.
(Please Toby, if you do make a sequel reveal more about Gaster… I want to keep my pinkie toe )

I doubt there's going to be a sequel because a game about Frisk having a happy time with his friends wouldn't be interesting, and the last game ended at a point in which its basically finished and everything turns out well.

You never know… *tries to think of something* I dunno. To be completely honest, I'd play a game about Frisk being happy with their new friends and family… It makes me sad Asriel has to stay as Flowey and not be with his family unless he comes up to the Surface with them. Maybe Toby will be kind and let Flowey turn back to his former self. Instead on Flowey being the main antagonist maybe Chara will be? Chara returns for… some reason. Maybe at the end of the game Chara become a good person again and Frisk, Asriel, Asgore, Toriel, and Chara live happy ever after! …yeah no.

There probably won't be a sequel, but maybe a prequel?

Play as an amalgamate and explore the fabulous basement home!

A prequel could work. Play as Chara? I don't know.

Next, he thought of something- the determination experiments.

Sans was the one who pushed him in.

Gaster only was taking a break- going to the place he first built to remind him of at least one success.

Only he and Alphys remembered him truly, apart from Asgore. And possibly, the queen.
