I've seen them used at school. One teacher makes and sells them.

My neighbour makes his own wine. Every now and again we'll get a knock on the door in the evening and there he'll be - big grin and some fresh bottles.

Well the most recent time his daughter was with him and was playing with a fidget spinner (they took a moment to explain what it was).

So for once I'm not completely out of touch!

“wshhhh” - fidget spinner

Using one to help you focus is one thing. Spinning it like a maniac (having it make that annoying “wshhhh” sound) and doing “tricks” with one is another.

Otherwise, they're pretty interesting. I'm tempted to make one myself instead of dumping over thirty dollars to purchase one.

I heard of some that sell for about $1. I'm getting my own fidget spinner 3D printed.

You are? And better yet, you can? You can get everything 3D printed these days, or at least the simpler stuff.

And, yes, there are some really cheap ones on Amazon, but I've yet to come across one that isn't terrible. Or, you know, a five-star one for three dollars with only two reviews.

fidgeting used to be an actual remedy for ADD but now it's turned into a fad, what even
it's like cultural appropriation but instead of racist it's ableist

Even people that don't have ADHD are buying one, which makes sense because it's a fad. Assuming that fads fade away (they do), fidget spinners will become unpopular and most of it's users will be people who has it as a recommendation (probably).

Lot's of kids in my school are throwing them around class and throwing them at each other. Mostly in science. Yes. In a lesson where we use acids, some people decide it's perfectly appropriate to throw plastic and alumininium things around the class. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Luckily my school has banned fidget spinners and cubes completely and if you are caught with one by a teacher, they can take it off you. Some of the teachers are collecting them and taking them home so the kids can't get them back.

My music teacher was messing with one last lesson. He tried spinning it on his nose My music teacher didn't give it back to the kid he took it from.

Oh yeah!!! I got one two days ago, and I haven’t been able to stop playing with it since! Well, I stopped to eat and sleep, but that’s about it!!!

It’s beautiful…! It’s, like, mostly a green apple green, with some sky blue, and the green parts glow in the dark. Not to brag, but…! It’s really great, and I’m so glad I got one! Yay!!!

i don't see a problem with buying one of these even if you don't have ADD/ADHD if you simply view it as another toy. if you have ADD, then yeah,
you've got a reason to use the toy, and that's wonderful that you've found something to help your condition, but there's no reason other people shouldn't be able to purchase the toy

This precisely.
Even though I don't really *need* a spinner like this, I just want one as a toy because I like to fiddle things between my hands, like dice or wires, which I tend to spin around or just toss close in front of me.
